We were in the area, and a friend arranged a (slightly early) Burns Night at the establishment. We were given a quaint and well appointed function room at the back of the establishment (seats 36 - we were only 7), It was cosy and warm. The staff were great - they fed us to within an inch of our lives with 3 great food of beaut soup, fab haggis+ neeps & tatties, an epic cheese board (all scottish cheeses). The lady serving was polite, engaging and "managed us" with a light touch ensuring our glasses were never empty and all needs were covered. I didnt need to venture to the bar, but at a glance it was well stocked and the bar area has some beautiful original features. If i lived in the area this would be my local without a doubt - i could recommend for a pint or if a group of you want somewhere to dine (NB it wasnt expensive).

A group of us went for afternoon tea and it was brilliant A great selection of savouries sandwiches and scones with cream and lovely dainty cakes. The tiered plates were lovely presented and there was so much food. The service was excellent we were offered take away boxes for the food that was left over. The staff are always so pleasant at Betty nicols and big thank you to the lady who set up the afternoon tea

Have only popped in twice for a spot of lunch on both visits , but WOW what fantastic service , We were told to sit down as the gentleman behind bar would get out drinks order at the table, and then gave us the menu for lunch. Such excellent customer service, which is so nice to see and receive Nice selection of choices for lunch, and very reasonable price wise on our first visit we had the very excellent soup and panini deal at £4,95 and a couple of soft drinks Soups were freshly made, and panini was well filled with selected filling, to be honest we struggled to finish as they were that filling, we had browsed the menu and had debated the nachos , thought we would leave that for our next visit Forward on a week and our 2nd visit, again well greeted when we arrived , again was seated whilst bar man brought our drinks to the table and took our order we decided to try the sharing nachos and follow that again with the soup and panini Sharing nachos came out, they were fabulous , but what a plateful lol followed by our soup / panini which we defiantly struggled to finish this week This place is well worth a visit, such a nice welcome from bar staff, lady chef ( sorry guys never got your names ) Food is excellent Also the Bar is dog friendly Will recommend and will be back soon to sample more of the menu
