About
A traditional Victorian Bar dating back to 1741, retaining period features. Serving a wide range of premium spirits, including 40 malt whiskies, with 60 gins and great choice of rums and vodkas. We have a large selection of Tall Horse South African wines, served by the glass or bottle. We are in CAMRA Good Beer guide and always have Jarl on tap plus at least one other Guest Real Ale on tap. A choice of 9 loose leaf teas as well as a full selection of coffees. Food is served from noon until 3pm Monday to Saturday, with the Bistro available for private hire for meetings and events. Bistro hire is free, we offer buffets for up to 35 people seated, which are available from £6.95 per person. Included with any selected food option is room dressing in you choice and colour and bespoke music playlist to your choice. Afternoon Teas served between 3pm and 4pm daily, which must be booked at least 24 hours in advance. Fortnightly quiz nights, plus Rock and Roll Bingo.

We (me (26f) and my parents (69m + 68f)) called in for lunch and were very impressed. The bar was comfortable and friendly, the food was tasty and reasonably priced, the lady who ran the bar and the chef were both lovely so service was great and best of all our 2 little dogs were welcomed in enthusiastically and admired by staff and fellow patrons alike. Would highly recommend!

We had a great Saturday evening eating and drinking here. The food is deliciously home made with the best chocolate fudge cake ever and made by one of the lovely and friendly bar staff. A warm welcome and relaxed atmosphere make this a lovely place to relax and enjoy fab food and quality drinks. Thanks to the great staff for making g this a lovely night out.

First visit for many years to this traditional style pub in Kirkcaldy High Street. It was busy when we visited, late on a Friday afternoon, but the service was good, the drinks were reasonably priced, the bar was cosy and there was a friendly atmosphere. Won’t leave it so long to return.

Enjoyed afternoon tea in Betty Nicols yesterday. The staff were very welcoming and attentive during our visit. The afternoon tea was delightfully displayed on tiered platters. Staff explained what everything was.
The food was simply delightful, very plentiful so much so that we took two doggy bags home !.
A very pleasant way to spend a Saturday afternoon and to entertain my elderly mother who had a ball.

Visited Kirkcaldy for our puppy's first visit to a beach and called in for some lunch. It's dog friendly and the staff were brilliant and friendly, even when our puppy had a couple of accidents when she got a little over excited. The food was excellent and reasonably priced. We'll definitely visit again if we're out that way and can't recommend it highly enough.

Called in there for lunch a few days ago. Really nice pub with quirky decor and great staff. Comprehensive menu and the best chips I have tasted in a long time. Will certainly go bacl.

Such a let down. Went with couple friends. Planed to spend evening but bar man made this too uncomfortable. Short man with glasses. When buying bottle of wine he was rude. He was there for local, catered to them and was just blank and rude to anyone else. No wonder this place had name of being for locals and nobody else. 😕He made approaching bar too uncomfortable so when elsewhere,shame because we were comfy. Owner so nice. Review who employing, grow man acts like teenager. Pub too classy for that

Took our mother who is in her late80's here for afternoon tea to celebrate her birthday.
The attention to detail from John Nan and their staff was excellent.
The food was simply to die for.everyone present and there were 23 of us thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.

We don't go here very often and don't think we will be back. On our last ATTEMPTED visit - 3 of us on an afternoon - I went to get cash, the other 2 went in - had a look about and a member of staff asked if they could help - our 2 said they would go to the loo - staff advised that toilets were for customers only and therefore they couldn't use them - my 2 friends were astounded - obviously they left - cutomer welcome I don't think so!

It's all change as new owners have just taken over.Plans are afoot to make some changes with Wine nights on the cards.I was here last Friday 21st August.at a night out and really enjoyed the experience.Staff are friendly and efficient.Food was Buffet Style as there were a large number at the night out and was excellent.It was tasty and included Prawn cocktail,savoury sausage rolls and pakoras.Fab.The new owners have started well and I will be back.

Hi. This is a beautiful pub I must say. Got a question about the loos though. Are they of the same heritage as the pub interior itself? I'd be greatly disappointed if they were modern . :/

HI The toilets were renovated around 2010.
It is not possible to get parts for fittings from 1741.
Betty Nicols originated as a hotel in 1741, it became a pub in the late 1800s. Between the 19th century and today, the pub has undergone many changes and makeovers. The owner from 1992 until around 2002, Drew Nicol, took the building back to find the original features, saving what was salvageable and sympathetically replacing like for like the areas beyond saving.
