Balmule fishery stay
Aug 2021 • Family
Just back from a couple of nights stay , experience was fantastic .. everyone was very friendly and accommodating nothing was a problem to ensure you had a good stay . Had a few camping issues which were resolved immediately 👍
Had young kids in party , they were shown to fish , able to feed chickens and ducks and walk the goats .. just fab .
Sharon and family always made you feel very welcome
Rab whom lives on site is always available to help even last thing at night he would come and check on us to make sure we didn’t need anything before he went home . Just Amazing will definitely be back soon .

This is a fantastic place for all the family young or old, there is plenty of things to do as well as fishing. The owners and staff are lovely and very helpful, they are their to make sure you have a great day and also you are able to camp overnight. They have fire pits so you can toast marshmallows and supply food that you can order from them. I totally recommend this place for for fishing and and a perfect place for all the family.

Great introduction to fishing
Apr 2021 • Family
Went here in April 2021. Me and my two kids who are 12 and 9 years old. We hired rods and staff were very helpful and friendly even when my son got his line tangled in the reel. All we caught was a very small fish but my kids were pleased with that.

The site has toilets which can be accessed despite Covid restrictions. There’s also chickens on site that kids will like and I noticed a food van when I was there which I assume is open once Covid restrictions are lifted.

As for cost then we were around £22 for all three of us including rod hire and bait. That covered us for 2 hours which was plenty.

To the staff that work there - thank you for all your help! You really make the experience great so keep up the good work!

Will definitely be going back.

Pathetic

Probably the worste place I've ever been fishing. 20 rods in the water 2 fish caught. Waste of money. Not for the guy that owns the swamp he's printing money and not even stocking it. The condition of the fish say it all I would risk fishing again incase of infection. That's if you ever happen to get a nibble on the 3 fish that are left in the water. Close immediately please.

Best Fishing in Fife by far!
Aug 2020
Fantastic site! Well stocked, fish are strong and give a great fight. Good range of stocked trout - rainbow, brown, tiger and blues. Caught a few big ones here and beat my personal best within 5 mins from the bobble.

Staff are excellent and go out of their way to provide a great experience.

Camping permit is definitely a must! With the site being off the main track there's little to no traffic noise. Makes for a perfect, tranquil night.

My son - 4 and stepdaughter - 11 absolutely LOVE the fun pools and have both caught their first fish here at Balmule. An experience they'll never forget.

Small friendly fishery
Sep 2019
Convenient for Dunfermline, this fishery seems family friendly and encourages fishing by a variety of methods. Fishing the dry fly , I quickly caught a healthy blue trout and noted others catching too. Something changed and catching seemed to dry up. As this is a small, single pond fishery with a variety of anglers and family groups, I did not find it a particularly peaceful, natural or restful place to fish. There looks to be some work underway to dig another pond so the facility may develop.

The "plaice" to fish with the family (see what I did there 🤣)
Aug 2019
I travelled here with my son who recently turned 11 and is showing a keen interest in fishing during the school holidays. On arrival we were made to feel very welcome with some friendly banter and an explanation to all the fish stocked. Some of which I never knew existed, like tiger trout, gold trout and blue trout 🤔

We paid for our tickets (it was free for my son btw) and headed to our pegs to set up. It wasn't long before we were getting some interest in our tasty offerings. I hooked a few that got away. It wasn't the best time for bait fishing as there were lots of fish jumping at flies all around us. I did get a nice rainbow trout to take home.

When we had enough fishing for the evening and hunger took hold, we went to get the fish weighed and they took a photo of my son, Liam and he was on their Facebook page with a certificate by the time we got home.

A fantastic wee fishery for some Father / Son time and very reasonably priced 👍

If you want to introduce fishing into your kids lives and don't want to buy all the gear, just turn up and you can hire everything for a very small fee to see if they like it, another brilliant wee touch at Balmule 👍

Thank you Balmule, I'll see you again very soon 🐟👍

Nice set up with small piers at all the pegs

I visited with an 8 years old to instruct her in the finer arts of Fly Fishing . The place is well laid out with a beginners pond as well as the small lochan . There is a shop and bothy selling bait and flies .The cloud cover kept the sun away but did not encourage the fish to rise . Quite a few anglers on the water most bait fishing with a few fly fishing. Not a lot of fish rising and we did not see any getting caught It seems to cater for families quite well

Handy place for a spot of fishing with some great Fish!
Oct 2018 • Family
With it being the Half Term holidays and good weather took my Son and his friend up for a bit of fishing. Very reasonable price as the kids get to fish on your permit. It was not too busy so they had a choice of where to set up. Not long before they got started and using a small spoon they both caught a fish which always helps. So a successful afternoon, I got a little bit of fly fishing done but spent most of the time keeping them right. worth a look and will nod doubt be back again!
