This tour could not have been better because of Jack Pryde. He asked me questions ahead of time about what was important to me and since my father was from Dunfermline, he found where my grandfather’s business was formerly located and even gave me new information about my grandfather. He was kind enough to take me to the train station for the next leg of my tour and even took me to a connecting train when my original train was cancelled. Jack was extremely knowledgeable about Dunfermline, the Abbey and Carnegie. I won’t spoil it for you but there was a great surprise at the Abbey. I could not have asked for a better guide. Jack treated me kindly and warmly and has a great sense of humor. Because I was traveling solo, he had a female colleague accompany us “because of his handsome looks.” This comment reminded me so much of my father, it brought tears to my eyes. Overall, worth every penny and was a highlight of my trip. Thank you, Jack!!

A fascinating tour of Scotland's former capital including some bits not to be found in the guide books. Jack is a knowledgeable and entertaining guide who obviously takes a 'pryde' in his work. Would recommend this tour to anyone wanting to find out about the real Dunfermline.

Meeting at the Shrine of St Margaret we walked in the footsteps of the Saintly Queen. Jack was knowledgeable, friendly and had a sense of humour. We also had a private tour of the St Margaret's Cave. I would recommend Discover Dunfermline Tours to anyone visiting Dunfermline.

We just got off of a 21-day cruise from Amsterdam, through the Norwegian fjords, up above the Arctic Circle, down through Iceland and the Faroe Islands, and finishing our ports of call in Rosyth, Scotland, near Edinburgh. I started out trying to find someone to take us to Edinburgh and wait for us as we went to the Royal Edinburgh Tattoo. After much internet searching, I found Jack Pryde and Discover Dunfermline Tours. We got so much packed in one day! Ten of us climbed into two vans at 9 am for a day that ended past midnight. First we went to a great viewing site of three bridges over the river. Then we headed to Dunfermline to visit the beautiful 12th century abbey where Robert the Bruce is buried and where the shrine to St. Margaret is. Then we toured the birth cottage of Andrew Carnegie as well as a museum dedicated to his remarkable life. Next we asked for a small change of plans to visit the Falkirk Wheel. Jack agreed, and we were off to a real thrill to see the only mechanism of its type in the world. We also had a lovely lunch at the visitors center. After lunch we visited the Rosslyn Chapel made famous by the Da Vinci Code. I'd heard of it years before and wanted to see it for the amazing carvings on the pillars, walls, niches, and ceilings. I wasn't disappointed. It's fabulous. Then it was time to go to Edinburgh. We had time for shopping and dinner before the Tattoo began. The evening's highlight, of course, was the Tattoo. You have to see it to believe it.! I can't recommend Jack Pryde highly enough. He delivered on everything he promised, plus more. His rates were reasonable; he was very punctual and polite, if opinionated (!); and he has a passion for his work.

My husband and I were fortunate enough to take the In Steps of St. Margaret of Scotland tour with Jack Pryde. His knowledge of the only female Saint of Scotland and Queen to Malcolm Canmore was superb! Being able to visit the places that St. Margaret herself had lived was an amazing experience. Jack was able to gain access during our tour to places that are normally closed to tourists, such as the Dunfermline Abbey and St. Margaret's Roman Catholic Memorial Church. Jack's tour really made St. Margaret's life come alive for us and we would highly recommend Discover Dunfermline Tours to anyone who wants to learn more about Scotland's ancient capital!
