Piped music
Sep 2019
I live nearby Carnegie Baths so would like to use the swimming pool more.Today (Sunday)I went for an early morning swim, and had to be subjected to music from a radio station.I like to have a swim for relaxation and don’t want to listen to pop music .
Is the radio on for the staff?do the customers enjoy this constant sound....Maybe even 2 hours at start of the am swimming sessions it would be good to be radio free.

Hi McDarcy Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. The music within the leisure centre is a provision that was provided with our advertising partners, having the radio on is part of this contractual oblation. However this contact is coming to an end next year and the decision is still to be made whether we will continue with this in the future. Studies have shown that music can improve performance in many sports. We do regularly get requests from customers to change to the station or put the volume up or down, but not to stop it altogether. We would like to thank you for bringing your views to our attention, we will ensure your comments are passed to higher management. Once again thank you for your time, we hope this will not put you off visiting again in the future.

The Staff! Rude, rude rude!
Jul 2019 • Family
Front desk desperately in need of customer service training, I would love to by pass this section & have a barrier with a prepaid card or something. They are miserable, never smile & full of attitude. I would suggest to get another job if you don’t like dealing with the public. Never in my life has a place shocked me so much, I thought maybe they are having a bad day but 4 years on they are consistently awful.
I don’t have much choice but to attend this venue, so I begrudgingly return every week & brace myself for the chilly reception

We are deeply sorry and surprised to read of this! The venue management team would kindly ask that any behaviour-related concerns or examples whereby things could have been better are brought to our attention at the earliest possible opportunity for investigation and follow up. This can be done by asking for the duty manager on shift. On this occasion, we would respectfully ask for any further specific information to be supplied to us by utilising our complaints procedure. Please share feedback this via email to: FSLT.HQ@fifeleisure.org.uk Rest assured, we take customer service seriously and endeavour to provide first class customer service in everything that we do. We hope you continue to enjoy Carnegie Leisure Centre.

Seriously unimpressed
Jun 2019 • Solo
Is this even open? Recently taken out a gym pass but the pool is never open. If it’s not closed for maintenance it’s closed for lessons or club use or you’re shunted into the training and club use pool while clubs go in the main pool. Or the training and club pool is empty and half the main pool is cordoned off for training and clubs leaving it very overcrowded in what section the public use. I’m paying a monthly fee and driving past this pool to go to one I can use that’s open. Considering cancelling my membership once the mandatory three months is up as I’m spending the same per month on fuel driving to other pools

Hi PonyUpMum Thanks for taking the time to leave a review, customer feedback is important to us and this will be shared with the Duty Manager team. We are sorry you have been unable to make the most of and enjoy your Leisure Active membership. Our swimming pools are very popular, we have; public swimming, swimming lessons, private club bookings, kids inflatable sessions, birthday parties, staff training and aqua fitness classes all using our facilities. We do our best to strike a fair balance and design a timetable to suit all customers. If you visit the locations section of our website you can download a pool timetable, from here you will be able to see the public swimming availability days and times. Hopefully you will be able to find some times that are suitable for you.

Really surprised to find two 25 metre swimming pools inside this old building. Changing areas could certainly do with better signs as we weren’t the only ones wandering about. Pools great with lane swimming. Would be 4 stars if had car park. Local people told us to “park at Tesco “. Not great walking back with wet hair.

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review Marge. The comments regarding signage within the pool area have not been brought to out attention before, we will pass this information on to management and they will look into this further. We understand that the car parking situation is not ideal, however please note that we do offer free hair drying facilities within the changing area. We are glad you enjoyed your visit and hope to see you again.

Expensive visit to children’s pool
Aug 2018 • Family
After paying full price for two adults totalling £9 we stayed for a total of 10 minutes until our baby started shivering. Very cold and not sure if I’d use octotots in this water temperature. Disappointing for our first family visit.

Hi Louise, thanks for taking the time to leave a review. Sorry we missed this and took so long to get back to you. We do feel that £9 for a family of 3 to go swimming is quite good value for money. Since under 5s swim for free the cost highlighted is for 2 adult swims. We do offer 10 for the price of 8 session passes, or swimming membership options, which if you were to become a regular swimmer may be worth considering as would reduce the cost. Regarding the water temperature this is motored throughout the day and kept at a constant 30 degrees, sometimes the air moving through the family changing area does make the pool seem to be colder than it is. We do hope you visit us again soon.

Decent Swim
Jul 2017 • Friends
Went swimming today at the carnegie and the swim was good and the building is good. But no fun activities like slides or diving boards my swim was interrupted by a bunch of kids shouting and splashing everywhere and the lifeguards did not try to stop them

Thanks for taking the time to leave a review. We are glad to hear you enjoyed your swim. Unfortunately we don't have any diving boards, flumes or waves, however we do have an inflatable aquarun available every 11.00am - 12.30pm ever at the weekends. Sorry about the behaviour of other swimmers, we hope this will not put you of returning. We will pass on your comments to the lifeguards.

Climbing fun
Jan 2017 • Family
We have just about completed a programme of three sessions for our group of primary children at Carnegie Climbing Centre. The sessions have been excellent!
All the instructors under the leadership of Thom challenged the children and allowed them the freedom to assess risk throughout the programme.
We will be hoping to utilise the new climbing centre in Lochgelly when Thom and his excellent colleagues complete the building works.

My kids love visiting Carnegie. My toddler son took part in football training, bouncy castle play and my almost teen daughter swimming lessons. The reception girls are always pleasant and friendly with us, talking away to my very chatty son and always with a smile. I have never witnessed the attitude some reviewers have mentioned. We particularly enjoy the soft play area where the staff are fantastic, remembering kids names after only a couple of visits and looking out for them whilst playing when they really don't have to. There have been times where more boisterous kids have been running around and pushing but thats down to the parents not supervising. The kids love the pizza and a slushy from cafe which is reasonably priced however the cakes and biscuits are a bit more expensive but do taste good! Looking forward we will continue to visit the centre, and use the facilities we havent used yet like the climbing wall, creche and gym.
