Neighborhood: New Town
Suits and shopping bags rule the streets of New Town, until after dark when strappy dresses come out to play. This is the city’s central business district with its smaller offices, clothes boutiques, and many of the city’s flashiest restaurants and ritziest clubs. The architecture along roads like George Street helps give it a swank and formal feel: it’s a planned Georgian development of regal townhouses, geometric squares, and self-important statues. But it’s also a very wanderable neighborhood, with a healthy bustle at almost any time of day and fine people-watching in places like St Andrew's Square which fills with picnickers around lunch. You’ll also find a series of cheerful basement bistros on Hanover Street, while dark Rose Street has something of the feel of an undiscovered back alley and is chock-full of characterful pubs and small independent shops.

....... in a really characterful part of the city just circa 100m from Princes street. The area of George street on which the statue is effectively located is a really blast from the past. You can take in this statue and wander up and down George street having a gander at all the neo classical Georgian offerings and some as the whole places oozes characterful architecture and historic relevance - not so much a walk down a road as an experience - and all to be found either side of the statue. Do give it a go !

Just another one of the many bronze statues commemorating historical or cultural figures of Scotland.

This statue stands in tribute to Will Pitt the Younger. He was Britian's youngest Prime Minister from 1783 until 1801 during the reign of King George III. His legacies included, parliamentary reforms to reduce the "rotten" boroughs, improvement to government finances and leading the country during the French revolutionary wars, the Napoleonic Wars as well as re-organising and strengthening British rule over India.
The Statue of William Pitt the younger holds a commanding position on George Street, as it stands at the junction of George Street and Frederick Street. This statue simply depicts William Pitt In portrait stance wearing a long cloak. His left arm is across his chest. In his right hand he holds a parchment.

The statue of William Pitt is located in the intersection of George and Frederick Streets. A pretty good spot as it can be seen from a distance. However, photographers will not necessarily be happy, but that's the way it is! Pitt deserves his place as he is Britain's youngest Prime Minister. He got the top job at the tender age of 24! Amazing, isn't it! He became PM in 1783 and stayed in office until 1801, and again from 1804 until his death in 1806. It's worth a look if you are in the area.

As you walk up Frederick Street from Princes Street, you see ahead this imposing statue of William Pitt which is set at the crossroad with George Street. It was erected in 1832 and sculpted by Chantry and, in fact, is a copy of his original work that stands in Hanover Square, London.

If walking along and exploring George Street, in Edinburgh's 'new town', the statue of William Pitt is one of several that you will come across on your travels.
William Pitt was Britain's youngest Prime Minister from 1783 to 1801.
The statue sits in the centre of a roundabout in George Street at the junction with Frederick Street.

William Pitt the younger, a man from Kent, stands proudly on George street, he was the youngest prime minister at the time, Maybe he done some good things for the Scots? Nice enough statue, pretty standard, but in a nice location. Worth a peek.
