Edinburgh Darkside Walking Tour: Mysteries, Murder and Legends

1,624 reviews
The atmospheric city of Edinburgh is best explored by night, when tales of mystery and murder are at their most frightening. Discover the dark side of Scotland's capital on a historical walking tour that covers Edinburgh’s morbid past. Wind your way through the cobbled streets of Calton Hill, North Bridge, and Canongate cemetery, all of which are inaccessible by coach bus or car, and listen to stories that focus on torture, treason, and death.

Fantastic place, it was our first time, difficulty rating of 4 and we only just got out with 40 secs spare! Highly recommended. 2 adults and 3 kids age 14, 16 and 17 so good spread!

We went as a group of four and did the distillery room. We all enjoyed it immensely, it was so satisfying to get a puzzle and move onto the next one. The puzzles were varied and there were some nice surprises! Loved our experience so thank you!

We booked the Secret Lab for our family of four. We have done Escape rooms before with 4 different companies, and this was the best we have done! It is full of interesting and varied puzzles and is non-linear which meant we were all busy all of the time. We were told that it was a big room (lots of puzzles) for 4 people as it can take up to 10, but we still managed to escape so it is doable, even with a smaller group. In Covid times with current rules (Sept 2020), we were asked to wear masks throughout, there was hand sanitizer before and after the room and they had clearly taken time to heed all the guidelines so we felt very safe. I highly recommend this for big or small groups for anyone who likes solving puzzles and having fun.

We did the secret lab with a family of 4 (Ages 15, 16 and state secrets). There are loads of puzzles with lots of variety from physical dexterity to pure deduction and everything in between. Probably the best we have done so far in Edinburgh or elsewhere due to the sheer variety of the puzzles. The Covid precautions are thorough but do not affect the game at all. Cannot recommend highly enough.

As someone who has worked in Escape Rooms before, I was eager to try out the famous Locked In Edinburgh rooms. I decided to test their facilities out on my partners 25th birthday — needless to say it was a smash hit! The innovative puzzles left both of us occupied at all times, needing to work together the perfect amount to escape. Erin our games master was very involved in the game, and explained the scenario with great (contagious) enthusiasm. We chatted with the manager as well after the game for a while - they’re so sweet and personally makes sure every game and experience is 11/10. Would recommend !!!!!!!
