Abba brilliant
Dec 2021 • Friends
Abba concert last night. Very good night of singing and dancing. Enjoyed by everyone.
Toilets OMG look like never cleaned or changed since it was The Place. You have lady sitting there but floor like a swimming pool.
Also no checks at door for covid.
Pity these two things should be looked at

It’s Never Changed
Sep 2021 • Solo
I went here for a gig recently. It’s the first time in ages that I’ve been and it’s never changed.

From the doormen greeting toh to the counter to your left where you’d pay tour entry. Then down the famous slippy steps and into the main area.

There’s a bar and opposite it is the stage. The venue maybe holds about 700 hundred. There’s a smoking area to the back and you can usually go upstairs and watch events from there.

It’s funny as it always seems dark, even when they put the lights on at the end of the night. And it feels a bit cramped.

It’s popular agin with clubbers and although those days are well behind me I’ll be returning for gigs. It’s got an up close, sweaty type of vibe that adds to the experience.

Poor. Night not as marketed.
Aug 2021 • Friends
High expectations going in, promised a cheesy rewind night. What we got however, was lo-fi beats and no lyric music that we could not sing along to. Only 2 songs we knew in the entire set. No exaggeration when I say that the DJ was 70 yo. Very disappointed. I felt as though I should be studying to this music rather than raving. Vibe of club = dead ☠️. Lots of creepy old men also lingered.

weird

Our waiter (short hair, beard, older man) was off his face, red eyes, inappropriate comments to myself and to my mate. Bad service.

Rubbish experience
May 2021 • Friends
The beer garden was bang in the middle of a construction sight. The seats were all worn and dirty! Not a big selection of drinks and to top it off they charged £5 for a bottle of corona lager! Don’t waste your time going here! Plenty of other places in town that are much better!

Excellent Beer Garden
Aug 2020
Due to the Covid19 restrictions the club is not able to open but the fantastic outside roof garden is. We discovered this during a walk around the City looking for a nice spot in the sunshine. Friendly welcome, attentive table service, great atmosphere and a sun trap. Social distancing measures in place throughout, bookings can be made via the Facebook page.

Brillaint band but.........
Dec 2019
Went to see Goodbye Mr Mckenzie on the 29th Dec 2019 at this venue, band was brilliant ,but did not enjoy the place one bit its like a rat warren! £2 for the cloackroom, rip off! absolutley no space to breath let alone move!Did not get to see the band ,though I could hear them ,I just should of stayed at home and listened to my cds of them, saved some money and hassle. What I am trying to say is, the capacity of the venue is far too many squeezed in to enjoy any gig, propbably down to greedy owners, cram them in and dont give a feck about patrons safety,if the fire inspectors passed this size of capacity to be safe it must of been empty at the time??I came here to see the same band in 1992!! yes I know it was a long time ago,but it was a really good gig cos it wasn't over crowded! and got to see the band. Please venue owners lower the capacity then I for one would propbably go back.Another suggestion would be for tv screens to be shown out in the courtyard so if you want some fresh air /ciggie you can see the band playing.

Cloakroom theft
Aug 2019
Never wear an expensive designer label coat or jacket you will never see it again from the cloakroom. I think the staff steal them and sell them on. Everyone I know has had their coat or jacket stolen from the cloakroom. Definitely something fishy going on there.
