My family of 4 spent 7-days in Scotland with Alister McDermott as our personal guide in June of 2019. Alister possesses what I like to call the 4-P's. He is Professional, Punctual, Polite, and Personable. Every time Alister was to meet with us, he was always 15-minutes early. His 7-passenger VW was perfect, and comfortable for all the driving we did, which was a lot. As he got to know our interests, he suggested side trips along the way as time permitted. Each one was well worth the extra time spent. As a native Scot, Alister has a wealth of knowledge of his country and its history that will be shared with you along your journey. I cannot imagine you will find a better guide in all of Scotland than my friend Alister McDermott. I was so moved by what he did for our family while in Scotland, I was brought to tears when I had to say goodbye. Simply put, Alister is "THE BEST"!!

If you want more than just a driver... If you want service that goes above and beyond... If you want someone who cares more about providing you an experience vs. doing a job.. I’ve now had three tours with Alister and each time, I’ve been impressed with his professionalism, personality and effort toga was you leave Scotland completely in love with the people, land and whisky. So look no further if you want the best experience in seeing “His Scotland”!

We had a fantastic day with Alister. After the various emails for the planning we were already very curious about the day. Alister welcomed us in the hotel reception and we drove with his very pleasant van via Firth of Forth into the Highlands. On a mountain with a beautiful view we enjoyed there a first (very good) whisky. During the trip Alister explained the whisky production and many other stories. After a visit to a distillery, we returned to Edinburgh. All in all it was a very exciting and varied day. Can definitely recommend Alister and would book him again at any time.

Alister! What a find! His love of Scotland, his encyclopedic knowledge of his beautiful country, and his super-comfortable minibus make Alister McDermott and his boutique company, See My Scotland, the ideal way to see this magical country. His smile beams and his voice booms as he weaves wonderful stories — with just the right touches of darkness and irreverence. We hired Alister for a tour of Edinburgh and then several days later for a tour of Glasgow. Throughout our two days with him, he kept our group of six children and adults happy and engaged. At our request, he also gave us time to wander on our own (an essential experience in any new city). He is a life-loving, kilt-wearing Scot with a wry sense of humor — and a stash of single malt. Who could ask for more? The youngest of our group, age 11, and oldest, age 79, and everyone in between gave Alister the highest rating. One in our group has mobility issues and Alister was even able to arrange for a scooter in both Edinburgh and Glasgow. That gave us a much-appreciated level of flexibility and independence. No question — Alister and See My Scotland made our visit to Scotland a top highlight of two weeks in the British Isles.

We have been to many places and, in each, we have used private guides. Alister was one of the best.. I corresponded with him via email and he got to know what I wanted in the tours for my family. He made suggestions and we came up with a plan for each day. He insisted that each day was flexible so we could spend more time or less time at each stop. The weather was cold and rainy, but onward we went. Alister adjusted our tours each day. We had an amazing three days together. We did Edinburgh and environs, drove to Inverness with many interesting stops along the way, and spent an amazing day on Isle of Skye. Alister shares information, legend, Scotch, and keeps everyone interested. If you have the opportunity to be in Scotland, look up Alister for sure.
