About
Advance booking is essential as we are unable to offer walk in tours. Located in the beating heart of Scotland's capital, the Edinburgh Gin Distillery is a destination quite unlike any other. It's here that we produce small batches of gin, inspired by the majesty, marvel and mischief of Edinburgh and its inhabitants. The Edinburgh Gin Visitor Centre is a space in the capital where you can indulge both the mind and the palate in all things gin. From taking a tour or a guided tasting, to trying your hand at making your own, our goal is the educate, excite and libate; all in equal measure.

Neighborhood: West End
Prevailing winds meant that most cities that grew in industrial Britain had their most desirable neighborhoods to the west – upwind of factory fumes. Edinburgh was no exception, with its wealthiest citizens settling in its West End and leaving behind grand Georgian townhouses, private gardens and genteel crescents. These backstreets remain as dignified and sleepy as ever, and most of the action here lies along the district’s busy main roads. Lothian Road connects to southern Edinburgh and harbors a vague entertainment district: three theaters and the city’s main indie cinema. All attract a select crowd, the sort who appreciate the Saturday Edinburgh’s Farmers’ Market around the corner. The West End’s other great thoroughfare, Shandwick Place, is dominated by trams trundling out to the suburbs and airport, and shoppers picking up last-minute items before hopping aboard.

An amazing experience! Adriana was a very knowledgeable, entertaining guide telling us all about the history and story of the Edinburgh gins. I have been for gin tasting before but this was so different and l loved it. Did not realise there was so much to this drink and how the use of botanics and mixers change the taste so dramatically..
I would recommend anyone visiting Edinburgh include a visit to this distillery to their itinerary and it is so easy as it is in the centre of the city.

A visit with several friends during a weekend away in Edinburgh in Sep22. Excellent experience in a lovely old building. Very friendly staff. Adriana talked us through the tasting experience with great knowledge and enthusiasm and made us feel valued and entertained. Lovely gins and tasting experience. There is a very small shop that you can visit and Adriana also recommend the larger store near by and that we also visited and made purchases to take home. A great 5* visit that we all enjoyed and would recommend.

As part of my wife's birthday treat, I booked a tour for 1pm last Friday (19th Aug) and we thoroughly enjoyed it.
I very rarely drink gin so I'm not a great lover of it, however, I went with an open mind and can honestly say that we ended up buying a bottle each (10% discount!).
Our guide, Shannon, was very knowledgeable and friendly, as were all the staff we met. The distillery itself is very atmospheric with low ceilings and homely furnishings very conjuisive to partaking in a drink or two.
The two stars "Caledonia" & "Flora" looked fantastic in their shining glory, surprising how much they produce from such small bodies!
We'd love to come again, not sure when but a return is quite likely before the move.
I'm now sat back home south of the border sampling my purchase and loving every minute of it!

Excellent, intimate tour! Natasha was so fun and knowledgeable. The small size of the group allowed us to be conversational throughout the tour and ask as many questions as we wanted to. A discount on product was made available for us to use over the next three days on site or at their larger store a few blocks away, which I feel was quite generous and convenient. I'll definitely be checking them out at Duty-free in the airport. I wasn't much of a gin person before, but I am whistling a different tune now. Thanks so much Edinburgh Gin!

My girlfriend and I decided to book the Edinburgh Gin tasting experience at the Edinburgh Gin distillery as part of our holiday to Edinburgh and it was by far worth the money! The venue was lovely, it really felt like a speakeasy club being located in an warm and very welcoming underground basement off the main road Shandwick Place. Our tasting experience was lead by Mike who was super friendly, full of knowledge and a great host. The distillery is amazing and super cool to see in person. We would highly recommend this to anyone looking for a fun, boozy afternoon whilst in Edinburgh.

Great experience, equal parts informative and entertaining. Mike was our host and he was great! Really interesting to hear all about the distilling process and tasting different gins. I have done other gin experiences but this one was far more engaging and intimate with time spent to discuss the gins rather than give you a drink and send you on your way. Would definitely come back to do the experience again once the new location is set up! Highly recommend!

We did the gin tasting experience and loved every minute of it.
Allan was a wonderful host and made the experience really fun and interactive. We were able to ask loads of questions and learn more about the company and the process of making gin.
The gins we tasted were delicious and a good mix of the different types they distill. My favourite was the Seaside Gin which I'm going to have to track down when I get home because we flew with hand luggage only. ðŸ˜
I had no idea that they had so many different types of gins which, of course, they sell in their gift shop after the experience.
I wholly recommend doing the tasting and it's more than worth the asking price.

We booked the 10:30am slot which was the only one available during our stay in Edinburgh (always a good sign when something is fully booked!). We had grand plans of having breakfast first but as usual woke up late and ran out of time so we ended up drinking gin for breakfast.. Which I think you can tell by the photo!
Peter was a great host, very informative and interacted with everybody on our tour.
I have to admit I’m not usually a gin drinker but I do enjoy an Edinburgh gin liqueur. The actual building inside is so pretty, everything is lovely and clean and all staff we came across were friendly.

Really enjoyed this. We first booked 2 years ago and Covid restrictions scuppered our plans but it was worth the wait. Courtney, our guide, was very knowledgeable about the brewing and history of Gin and took us through the process of adding the different citrus peels and tonics to bring out the flavours of the different gins we tried. If you love gin or even if your not sure about it, I'd highly recommend this activity when in the city.

Does anyone know if the tours are still being carried out in groups when they reopen or are they separate because of corona. I’m a bit worried about being put in a group at the moment.

Hello, I'm interested in booking a Gin Connoisseur Tour for one person either on 22nd or 23rd of January, depending the information you'd kindly provide here. I'm wondering that when does the tour start, is there different period of time of a day and could we choose when if there's so? Finally, how long is the duration of the tour? (I'll be traveling from NewCastle at noon so try to see if I could arrange the tour before it close while still enjoy my time there. )
Thank you in advance.

Hello,
All cancellations go back onto the website straight away, which means we don't offer a cancellation list. They are a little hard to predict, but it's good to keep an eye on there just in case something frees up.

Where exactly is the tour entrance? The access is not clear on Google maps. We'll be walking from Haymarket station. Thanks.
EdinburghGin
Edinburgh, UK2 contributions
Hello,
The entrance is on the corner of Rutland Place (not Rutland street) and Shandwick place. It is often best if walking from Haymarket to walk up Shandwick place keeping on the right hand side of the road. You will see a converted church pub/bar called Ghillie Dhu and we are next to this, with the entrance just on the left leading underground.
Please do call us on if you get lost - we will come out to find you!

Hello Katie
We have very limited back of house space, but if you arrive 5-10mins before your tour we should be able to find a suitable place to leave your items for the duration of your visit.
