Address
Neighborhood: Stockbridge & Dean Village
Just downhill of New Town and attractively straddling a river near the elegant Royal Botanic Garden, it’s small wonder that Stockbridge became one of the city’s first hip neighborhoods. It’s now one of Edinburgh’s most desirable, though many bohemian touches have fallen away as its residents have matured and the area has gentrified. Some second-hand shops cling on, but mostly residents display refined tastes in basement bistros, gastropubs, coffee and antique shops, boutiques and delis and at the Sunday farmers' market. A pleasant ten-minute walk away, along a leafy riverside path beside the gurgling Water of Leith, lies Dean Village. This sleepy neighborhood of medieval half-timbered houses still retains much of the village feel it had when watermills plied their trade here. Beyond, the wooded riverside path feels even more remote as it climbs to the sculpture gardens of the Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art.

Little gem
Jan 2019
I’m surprised this place hasn’t got more reviews.
The food is AMAZING! Lots of choice and fresh, home cooked, flavoursome food. Would highly recommend.

Nice little bar with various beers/lagers on draft.

Lots of games available to play: Scrabble, Articulate etc

Staff accommodating and friendly

Top notch roast
Oct 2018 • Friends
Sunday roast was 10/10. Beef cooked to perfection, roast potatoes were to die for! Plenty of gravy. Not the most aesthetically pleasing, but very very good. I could eat it again now!

Amazing atmosphere, wonderful staff and the best bar food around. Lots of quirky shops in and around St Stephens St and Stockbridge and this is the best pub by miles

A "Boys" Night Out
May 2016 • Friends
When I say "boys" I really mean 6 men in their late 50's and early 60's. We started our Stockbridge tour of an evening here in The Antiquary. I hadn't been there for something like 30 or more years but what a gem of a place. A traditional old pub with a warm friendly clientele, extremely attentive, friendly, welcoming bar staff, and the best pub grub I've tasted anywhere. The Cow Pie was just fantastic, and I'm assured that the burgers and pasta dishes were equally as delicious too. You won't regret stopping off here for a while, and we'll be back long before another 30 years goes by. Cheers 🍻.

Great local pub
May 2015 • Friends
This is a brilliant locals' bar in the basement on St Stephen's Street. It's authentic and always plenty of locals in having a good laugh so one of the top places to go a drink when in Stockbridge

Friendly locals bar
Jun 2015 • Couples
This was part of our Stockbridge pub crawl. Its a friendly locals bar which was very busy serving the locals cheap pub food. Well worth dropping in for a beer.

Hearty Pub
Jun 2014 • Solo
As I used to work in the Stockbridge area the Antiquary was my "local" hadn't been in ages but was delighted to see the same faces behind the bar (apart from the tall guy with glasses), always a welcoming reception and have friendly staff, I have never tried the food but it always smells great. Also makes the best CHEEKY VIMPTO it's the kind of place if you were moving away somewhere else to live you'd want this as your local down the road :)
