Wedding
Aug 2019 • Couples
We attended a wedding last week in this venue which previously had been a church.
The reception area inside was fine, young staff bring around Cava and canapes. When the staff open the partition curtain
You see the impressive room with lighting and lovely murals on the church walls.
Food was very good too. Staff quite attentive circulating with wine.
Lovely setting for a wedding.

We attended a wedding here of about 80 people and it was really terrifically catered. Everything was done excellently, the venue itself is terrific and the staff were attentive and considerative.

This made the most incredible wedding venue; The outside cannot prepare you for the most beautiful interior.

Wonderful Murals a must see
Sep 2018 • Friends
Although not open every day it is well worth finding out when it is open as Phoebe Traquairs murals are a vision of arts and crafts influenced beauty and were so nearly lost. The guides are very informative about the art and the church sect which commissioned it. Tours are free but deserve a donation to enable the murals survival.

Visit to see the Murals

Stunning former apostolic cathedral. Now an events venue. Open during the festival and selected dates all year. Home of the famous Phoebe Anna Traquair murals. Breathtaking artwork and children are given a quiz to keep them occupied. Helpful staff, guided tour or look at your own leisure.

Although its off the beaten track its well worth a visit. Beautiful moving paintings. Paintings have been restored to the highest standard. Absolutely stunning building, breathtaking. Once was a church now its a venue regularly used for wedding receptions and corporate dinners.

Very special place - magnificent, moving murals by Phoebe Anna Traquair

Just a bit out of the way for tourists (a few blocks from the Royal Mile, past the Conan Doyle Pub), and open limited hours, but well worth a visit. My artist wife wanted to see the murals, which are truly astonishing. She arranged a special Sunday afternoon visit through the Mansfield Traquair Trust. They were more than happy to do it. Fascinating story of the religious organization - the Catholic Apostolic Church - that built the church and commissioned the paintings believing the second coming was at hand. the murals are replete with religious symbolism, reflecting a deep knowledge of Christian beliefs. They are beautifully done. Gorgeous and inspiring to anyone, religious or otherwise.

Attended wedding at the Mansfield Traquair.

Venue is truly stunning & very atmospheric.

Beautiful former church is an ideal venue.

Staff on the whole excellent, although the evening bar staff seemed a bit inexperienced.

Highly recommended.
