Edinburgh Darkside Walking Tour: Mysteries, Murder and Legends

1,624 reviews
The atmospheric city of Edinburgh is best explored by night, when tales of mystery and murder are at their most frightening. Discover the dark side of Scotland's capital on a historical walking tour that covers Edinburgh’s morbid past. Wind your way through the cobbled streets of Calton Hill, North Bridge, and Canongate cemetery, all of which are inaccessible by coach bus or car, and listen to stories that focus on torture, treason, and death.

The marshmallow milkshakes are absolutely TO DIE FOR. The actual marshmallows are like no other I've tried - and if you don't know how good a marshmallow can be, then you absolutely have to give this little kitchen and cafe a visit. They have samples too, so you can try before you buy - if you're not sure what an Irn Bru marshmallow tastes like (aka insane). All in all, I thoroughly enjoyed my trip to The Marshmallow Lady, the super friendly and lovely staff made the experience all the better, and it was really fascinating to find out that the marshmallows are seriously all made by one woman, and everything is done in store!

I ordered 3 bags of mallows online and can honestly say they were the worst marshmallows i have ever had. They all had a really grainy, gritty texture which made them very unpleasant. I did send a message via the website as i thought maybe i just got a bad batch but i didn't get a response. Waste of money only 1 or 2 of each bag were eaten, the rest were put in the bin.

We used to live just around the corner from their store, but never visited (sorry). Decided to go in December and grab a hot chocolate (after seeing them on Instagram). Freshly made infront of your eyes using delicious chocolate from a local (but can't remember the name) source, and topped with marshmallows... plus some on the side for good measure. The best part - you can pick whatever flavour marshmallows you want! A nice way to warm up on a cold winter day.

Me and my husband have been coming to the Edinburgh Fringe Fest for the past 5 years and we always make sure we visit the Marshmallow Lady every time we come up! So thought it was about time I’d write a review! The marshmallows are delicious, light and fluffy and a good variety of flavours. The staff are always friendly. We always have to get a toasted marshmallow milkshake when we go it’s just amazing!

We visited for the first time today and loved it so much we had to leave a review! Amazing milkshakes with yummy toasted marshmallows on top. Dogs are also welcome - our puppy got the most friendly welcome and a biscuit (they also sell great dog treats), so she definitely loved it too :) we will definitely be back

Oh goodness we LOVE dogs, please do bring her in again, now she must be grown! The shop has recently gone under a refurbishment as well so it's even more amazing now with more confectionery, local goods and baked goods now as well as an extended drinks menu (with even more things planned for later this year) Thanks again for the visit and the lovely review, we look forward to seeing you again! Nicole x
