Unsafe for locals. Total nuisance
Oct 2020 • Family
Unsafe. While using this course you may accidentally kill or maim local walkers as the owners have not taken due care to ensure that balls don’t fly directly into a walking path.

Our wedding venue
Jul 2019
Nerves about how the wedding day was going to go were a bit on edge right up until we met Ruk the catering manager from Tynecastle Events LTD. 2 minutes into talking with her and we knew it was all under control, Ruk walked us through a step by step of how the day was going to go and she alleviated the vast majority of our nerves.
On the day of the wedding my groomsmen and myself got there early to see if there was anything required of ourselves for the setup, but David (Clubhouse manager) and his staff had everything under control and the place looked fantastic. All the staff (bar, catering, David and Ruk) were the epitome of professional and it would not be possible for them to have done anything better. One of the big worries was the fact that we had steak as an option for the wedding breakfast and getting everyone’s order correct would be a nightmare but again the catering team pulled it off. Not only were the steaks all done exactly as requested but every part of the meal was delicious and there was not 1 single complaint.
The most important part of the whole day was the fact that my wife had a great day; David, Ruk and the rest of the staff made her feel fantastic and went out of their way to make the day special for her which gave me an easy life to start our marriage. All in I would not change a thing and would suggest that anyone looking for a venue to hold an event, be it wedding, birthday or whatever, you will not be disappointed with Turnhouse Golf Club.

A Real Gem
Aug 2019 • Family
As I am the only golfer in my family of four that traveled to Scotland, I begged my crew to let me play golf one day...with the understanding that I wouldn’t leave them alone for the entire day. Since we were staying in Edinburgh, I looked for a course nearby and found Turnhouse.

I emailed the club and Trish helped me book a round which was the start of a spectacular experience. The course was challenging, immaculate and exceptionally well maintained. A driving range offered a solid warm up for my 18 hole walk with an electric walking cart.

The course has hills and at least five holes with blind shots, but the hills were not so challenging that you couldn’t walk. And most golfers did.

Yes, the course is near the airport, but the planes landing nearby did not impact the experience at all.

And most impressive: I found the Turnhouse staff and members to be the warmest, most welcoming and friendly of any golf course I have ever visited.

This is a value-laden gem! It’s a fun, fair test of challenging golf!

Embarrassing experience
Apr 2019 • Friends
I work locally to the golf course, me and two others decide to go along for an hour to the driving range. Went into the club house and purchased a token for the machine. We take a few shots and shortly after we get a lady coming up to us saying it's members only (At no point we were told/made aware of this). Every golf course I use allows non members for this.

£250 per year just to use the driving range haha. What. (Still have to pay for balls)

We naturally assumed we could at least finish what we paid for but were told "You need to go before anybody else sees you" (Crikey!). We didn't even want our money back as it would have been embarrassing going back into the club house in that fashion. If this happens again which I doubt it would, try and steer away from asking people to leave like that. Decided to become a member at my current club due to using their driving range frequently - obviously it's good for business.

Fun golfing on Lennie Hill
Sep 2018 • Friends
We were on a guy golf trip and added this course before we flew out the next day. It is located next to the Edinburgh Airport so the sight of jets coming in was amazing. The first tee shot is up the steep hill so many of the fairways are up and down or around this hill or small bluff. Walking it provided good exercise for sure. The cost was very reasonable. Worth your time.

Lovely, challenging course!

Played here on a lovely, sunny June day. It's a lovely course in really good condition. It's a good challenge too. At the first tee I thought it was going to be a really hilly, but it wasn't at all. It's very well designed so as not to be. Would highly recommend.

Awesome Course

Here I am - a Chicago native in Edinburgh, Scotland. Staying at the Marriott, for a work trip - I really wanted to golf in Scotland, but didn't have clubs or any gear. Luckily, I found that Turnhouse was only a 20-25 minute walk from the hotel. So after trekking over there on a perfect sunny day and dealing with an awesome clubhouse manager i golfed in complete peace - it was incredible. The course was beautiful and seeing airplanes land nearby without really dealing with a lot of sound pollution - this was everything and more that i wanted out of a scottish golf experience. when it was all over i received a nice ball marker - thanks turnhouse!

Don't miss the chance to get some Tour wisdom at Turnhouse
Jul 2016 • Family
During his enforced medical break from the European Tour Chris Doak is offering lessons at Turnhouse.

Considering the standard of golfer he normally plays with he was extremely patient with my two kids (13 and 17) and me for our on-course lesson. He's a very clear communicator with some really good tips and insights. Being on the course rather than the range we were able to see the benefits immediately.

Chris was also very generous with his time and keen to make sure we were enjoying ourselves as well as learning.

The facilities at Turnhouse are excellent too, easy to find, accessible, friendly staff and value prices.

Stephen, we are delighted that you enjoyed your time at Turnhouse. We are proud to have 2 great tour players as part of our "family" while Duncan Stewart is out plying his trade on the Challenge Tour, Chris, while out injured has been a fantastic addition to what we offer. Hopefully we will see you here again soon. Alan Young

As a club we use the reviews that we receive as a means of moving our club forward. Obviously we are delighted that you thought so highly of our course, however we are similarly disappointed that you felt that the service you received from the catering was not of a standard that you or we would expect. We will use you comments to improve our staff training and also as a reminder to all our staff that our standards cannot be allowed to slip in any of our departments. If you would like to get in touch with the club we would be delighted to investigate the matter further with you.

Better than expected
Aug 2015 • Couples
This is a golf course which we played in an Open Competition recently, then had a meal in the clubhouse.

The course is the surprise. It's a relatively old heathland James Braid course which has been turned into a tree-lined course by the addition of a prodigious number of trees. The holes are well-defined with one or two spectacular holes, especially on the second half; probably the best holes are the dangerous par-5 4th (so long as you're not playing into an east wind), the short 9th, the group of holes running from the 13th to the 16th, and the short par-5 last hole is a great way to finish. Some changes were made to the short 9th ten years or so ago which have NOT improved it for shorter hitters, however – there's no real bale-out for high handicappers now. That's disappointing.

However the course looks good and was in first-class condition when we played it. The greens were medium quick, no more, and the members didn't seem to regard them as slower than normal.

Our sandwiches and burgers were served promptly, tasted fresh, and the chips were in the American ultra-thin 'french-fried' style. The catering was typical golf club food, which is fair enough, and was reasonably priced. Decent without being exceptional.
