Neighborhood: Old Town
Few Edinburghers live in the Old Town, but its labyrinth of dank alleys and steep streets suggests this was not always the case. Today, it’s mostly visitors, tartan-flavored souvenir shops, and pipers that you’ll find on its cobbled streets. This is the place to get a feel for Auld Reekie (Old Smelly), as the town was once nicknamed, and stroll the Royal Mile, the thoroughfare that links the castle with the royal palace – two of Edinburgh’s great set-piece attractions. But there’s lots more exploring to do here down dozens of little alleys, or wynds, while at night the city’s busiest clubs erupt along the Cowgate which is closed to traffic for this purpose.

We arrived at the bar slightly late but were seated quickly. We were told the kitchen was just closed but they would still take a food order if we wanted one! The staff could not have been nicer! Unfortunately one of the drinks we’d ordered was no longer in stock and some of the other drinks were overpriced… but because of the wait on our pizza we weren’t charge the extra sit in price for our last drink. Fantastic customer service! And would go back!

Had a late lunch here whilst in the city for the tattoo. Being located just off the Royal Mile meant it was less crowded than the slightly more central bar/ restaurants which made it all the more pleasant for us. Staff were friendly, beer tasty and food great. The wings were every bit as good as we have tasted on our many USA trips so well done to brew dog. Plenty of choice on the menu, give the deep fried orieos a try, my grandkids though them fantastic. Highly recommend.

Ordered a pint of plain Hazy Jane and the (new) barman was belligerent, sarcastic and confrontational. The main issue was when the Hazy Jane he served was incorrect, probably Hazy Guava. When I told him that I drink a lot of Hazy Jane everyday and it was not plain Hazy, he became sarcastic and said “yes, well we sell a lot of Hazy Jane”.

After pointing the issue out to another member of staff, it was finally agreed that the wrong keg was connected to the Hazy tap. I asked for my EFP discount and when I pointed out that the daytime discount had not been added, he implied that I should have told him earlier. There were other inappropriate comments too. Not a customer friendly person I’m afraid.

During our trip, we also went to Brewdog Lothian Rd, the Doghouse hotel and Edinburgh Airport and staff there were all excellent.

We had booked a table for an evening meal. Upon arrival the place looked very lively and there was a nice atmosphere. However, the waitress showed us a booth upstairs. There were no diners, other than 1 couple nearby. It was very disappointing. Having booked this place in advance I thought we would have had a downstairs table but that was not the case. The burgers were good, but the noise upstairs from the music coming out of the loudspeakers was overwhelming. And the atmosphere was a wet towel. Quite claustrophobic too, trapped into this booth. This venue is quite pricey but I didn't think it was worth the money. We don't often go out and I think we deserved better. It's not just about food, but the whole experience. Maybe Wednesdays are not the best day.

We really like brewdog bars. Good atmosphere, friendly staff and good drinks. This place in cowgate is great. However, they should really not play stressful gangster rap, or whatever crap it is that they play after a certain hour. With the costs of the drink, maybe they should consider the clientele a bit more. At least some good punk would be more appriciated.
Just get it right, you are 99% there.

Wow . Loved this place so much. Staff were fabulous the food was fabulous and the rooms were fabulous.
Can’t recommend enough
Each room is named after a brew dog beer. The chill lobby was incredible free pick and mix and lovely coffee …. Games and books.
Outside area just as wonderful. Fire pit on request and lovely heaters all around.
Try the blueberry ice cream beer !!!!!! Perfect nightcap.
Will be returning

Upon arrival they were booked solid, their amazing staff did everything in their power to make sure we would not miss the chance to sit down and have a few pints and food. Beers were on point as always and great conversation and attention was something the staff made sure they worked towards. Thanks guys for the amazing rare night out with the wife.

I rate this place 5 stars purely on the basis of the service. My friend and I (18yo) were seated next to a table of older men, and the waiter explained to us that he would be happy to help or move us if we felt uncomfortable. We ended up chatting to said men and the waiter came back to check on us. It was really nice to see that he genuinley understood our concern and made us feel really safe. The drinks were nice too.

Bar man shouted at us as we didn’t stand right at the wait here sign. He then sniggered at us as we didn’t pronounce the beer name correctly. Beer was a bit flat compared to how it is normally. We won’t be rushing back.
