Shivago Thai Clinic is a family run practice led by Kei and Hoeyyn De Freitas who are passionate adherents of the art of traditional Thai Healing and Asian Medicine.

Established in London in 2006, Shivago moved to Edinburgh in 2008 after brief visits to Edinburgh cemented Kei and Hoeyyn's love for the city. Shivago Thai Clinic has built a solid reputation in Traditional Thai Therapy within Scotland and England, and has been featured in many press and media reports. The clinic has developed a regular following of clients who love authentic traditional Thai therapies.

Have experienced real health improvements during the past year from my (at times) biweekly sessions at the Shivago Thai Clinic. Would not have anyone else but Kei deal with my middle-aged body starting to ache from old sports injuries, and life in general - twisted ankles and near ligament tears to knees, shoulders and elbows. Oriental Medicine - I am... More

I have had a few massages in the last couple of months, normally I'd go for a relaxing, soothing treatment. This is quite different and what really struck me was Kei's unerring ability to find all the sore, tight areas causing me problems. His experience and expertise was very obvious. I've already booked my next appointment to get some lasting... More

This is the place to go for an outstanding experience in receiving first class treatment for aching muscles and joints and to relax your mind. The treatments are effective and the practitioners very kind and helpful, full of wisdom and knowledge of traditional eastern medicine and philosophy. Best massage therapists in Edinburgh bar none. I would recommend it to anyone... More

After a painful summer at work, I decided to tackle my back problems. Since then my condition improved and my pains in my shoulders, neck and arms are much less frequent. Some treatments can get painful, but the relief worth the massage. Good value for money, and overall, I recommend this clinic.

I've suffered for a number of years from chronic lower back pain. I've tried physiotherapy but it didn't help much. Finally, after a particulary painful weekend recently, I decided to give this a go. Best move I've made in a long time. Two half hour sessions over 3 days really sorted me out - the massage is powerful and not... More

Staying in Old Town

Neighborhood Profile
Old Town
Few Edinburghers live in the Old Town, but its labyrinth of dank alleys and steep streets suggests this was not always the case. Today, it’s mostly visitors, tartan-flavored souvenir shops, and pipers that you’ll find on its cobbled streets. This is the place to get a feel for Auld Reekie (Old Smelly), as the town was once nicknamed, and stroll the Royal Mile, the thoroughfare that links the castle with the royal palace – two of Edinburgh’s great set-piece attractions. But there’s lots more exploring to do here down dozens of little alleys, or wynds, while at night the city’s busiest clubs erupt along the Cowgate which is closed to traffic for this purpose.
