Neighborhood: West End
Prevailing winds meant that most cities that grew in industrial Britain had their most desirable neighborhoods to the west – upwind of factory fumes. Edinburgh was no exception, with its wealthiest citizens settling in its West End and leaving behind grand Georgian townhouses, private gardens and genteel crescents. These backstreets remain as dignified and sleepy as ever, and most of the action here lies along the district’s busy main roads. Lothian Road connects to southern Edinburgh and harbors a vague entertainment district: three theaters and the city’s main indie cinema. All attract a select crowd, the sort who appreciate the Saturday Edinburgh’s Farmers’ Market around the corner. The West End’s other great thoroughfare, Shandwick Place, is dominated by trams trundling out to the suburbs and airport, and shoppers picking up last-minute items before hopping aboard.

- Martin M3 contributionsOne Spa and Sheraton Birthday StayHaving been to the Spa before we knew what to expect. However the spa was far to busy even for non pandemic conditions. Initially we had booked for a late evening time slot. 1900-2030 but due to reduced opening hours this was changed to 1700-1830 To me it seemed the same number of bookings were just pushed into shorter working hours to accommodate staff shortages rather than abide by any covid safety restrictions. The main benefit of the spa in the evening is the outdoor hydro pool. Through out the evening there was upwards of 25 people in a rather small pool. This resulted in getting uncomfortably close to other spa guests. The hotel stay was ok. The room itself was nice and had some nice ambient light settings. The TV in the room was a good few years old, there was connectivity ports on the wall for various outlets (RBG, VGA, HDMI) none of which appeared to work. I reached out to reception who sent someone to investigate but was informed that these have never worked. It didn’t really effect the over all stay but for the cost of the room it’s pretty disappointing. We had booked a castle view room, which did indeed look out onto the usher hall with the castle behind it. But being only 1 floor above the ground and the room window being tucked away in the corner it was hardly the crowning feature of the room. You had to go out of your way to enjoy the view rather than enjoy it passively. Other than that the hotel staff and services were good. I was hoping for a higher level of service purely based on the cost of the hotel. I would have thought check ins and checks outs would be better organised particularly with the use of the mobile app. Having to queue for both was disappointing but is more the hotel not meeting my expectations for the cost than anything else. All in all we had a great stay the the Sheraton but I felt we could have had an equally nice stay else where in Edinburgh for fraction of the cost.Visited January 2022Traveled as a coupleWritten January 9, 2022
- Natalie BettsEdinburgh, United Kingdom84 contributionsLittle disappointingReturn guests to the OneSpa And have to say our visit tonight was rather disappointing. We visited with a view of relaxing and making use of all the facilities. First slightly inconvenient thing was just how busy it was. Understand it’s a Saturday so likely peak day however there was HEAPS of towels and robes discarded all over the place and made using the rooms quite difficult due to them being so full. The Hydro pool is usually our favourite part of the spa experience however this evening the water was cold. Not so cold you couldn’t be in it but cold enough you wouldn’t want to be lying in the bubble beds outside. The Hammam (typical Turkish bath) was also barely above room temperature. Sign outside the door clear states it should be between 38/42. I raised this with a member of staff and was very quickly told everything was at the correct temperature (absolutely not the case). The excuse for the outdoor pool being cold was the wind making it feel colder… anyone that’s in Edinburgh tonight will agree there is no wind at all. As a return guest I thought it was worth raising with reception as we left and the reception staff basically just looked at us and offered us a feedback form. No apology or acknowledgement of our experience. Absolutely not worth the money they are charging for a ‘premium class spa’… I would say maximum 3/5 stars which is so disappointment compared to our previous experiences. Won’t be in a rush to go back :(good morning NatBetts, Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback on your recent visit to One Spa. I am sorry to hear of your experience and certainly not what we would expect. Can you please email me directly: info@onespa.com for my attention as I would love to speak with you directly. - DaniEdinburgh, United Kingdom1 contributionReception staff lets the experience downIt started off a little disapointing when I arrived at reception and did not feel welcome or receive the customer service that would have been reasonable for an establishment like this. 1 member of staff turned their back and after speaking to the other she then asked the other person to take our booking whilst barely looking away from her computer. It started the experience off in a negative way. They didn't have the simple basic welcoming skills that could have avoided any issues. The Hydropool is definitely the best part about the spa, its lovely to just sit in there and really is relaxing, spent most of my time in there. The facilities are really nice, clean and well maintained. Towels, flip flops and dressing gowns easily accessible although I don't know why I bothered picking up a drssing gown because towel is a nice size that wraps fully arount most sizes. The massage was glorious- Laura was lovely, explained what she was going to do and asked what I would like, not like. I nearly fell asleep a few times and felt really relaxed, the downside was the transition from going from the spa to the massage. Not having the cafe is a real loss, something like a fresh juice or smoothie would have gone down a treat as we misjudged our time for getting ready. It felt like there was nowhere to really wait and chill out between sessions. Reception staff were slow to engage with us and not much area to get to reception from that side of the spa. The woman who was there just stared at her computer- if she has work to do and can't focus on the customers, fair enough, but have it out of site of customers. It is expesnsive and I am not sure it is good value for money, but when pay those kind of prices you do anticipate for the service to be significantly higher for those customer facing. Reception let the experience down, everything else was great.Visited October 2022Written October 26, 2022

Masseuse was above average, I would use her again, however, not at this facility. It was not keep up in the locker room, so it looks like a tenement house, there were used towels all over the place, the pool was heavily crowded,
We booked a couples massage, but they put us in two separate rooms, so that was a bummer, especially considering it was our anniversary present to ourselves.

Experienced one of the best treatments from Jessica that I can honestly say I have experienced.
Be at One is a 2 hour top to toe treatment like no other which blew me away. Would definitely book Jessica again. All the staff were very accommodating and lovely.
5 star experience all round, thank you.

It was ok. Front desk girls were pretty snobby and acted better than for no good reason. Felt like the blonde one was extra rude. Dirty looks, acted like I didn’t look wealthy enough to be there, etc. Since I am in my early twenties I guess they treated me like a kid, and I feel certain things would have been different if my mom was there. Probably would not go again until older or if my mother is with me just because of the girls act.

I recently visited One Spa on a Saturday morning with a friend as part of a weekend away to Edinburgh. We had the escape at one experience, so no treatment/massage just use of the thermal suite. At £75 for 3 hours each I felt very happy with my experience. The premesis was clean, as were the robes and towels. There were plenty of lockers, though they could have mentioned whilst we were downstairs in reception about the personal keys/wallet lockers - I read about them but didn't know where they actually were until reading TripAdvisor just now!
The thermal suite itself is good, the rooms were clean, heated/steamed as you'd expect with some nice environments. The outdoor/indoor spa pool area is nice, though don't expect any views of Edinburgh! It was also nice to have a full on swimming pool to do a few lengths in as we fancied.
I have rated 4 rather than 5 for two reasons. One, the changing rooms were uncomfortably hot, after all the heat of the thermal suite and showering after you don't really want to feel sweaty again whilst trying to get ready to leave. More importantly, both myself and my friend experienced the same problem with two different showers, which was that the provided shampoo/conditioner/shower gel pumps were just not functioning. They were of a design that I've never seen before and as we visited in the morning I'd like to think they weren't already empty for the day, but perhaps they were blocked? A slightly disappointing end but otherwise a lovely visit.

Not easy to find, it’s not in the hotel, it’s a 7 min walk to the building from the Hotel front door, then another few minutes inside the building itself to the Reception.
You must arrive much earlier than your appointment time, otherwise your massage will be much shorter (20mins!) than an hour. Abs shocking considering it was £99pp for 2 of us. Not like they were super busy, we had no one after us.
The massage itself was not great, wondering if these girls are qualified or not. I went for relaxation, however felt like I was a car going through a car wash, vigorous scrubbing and felt like I was at an osteopath not spa.
Facilities were great, clean, spacious. However staff are rude and in a rush to go home. As we were trying to relax post massage, girls were in and out, tidying beds, emptying water. Not so relaxed.
Overall just felt we have been scammed of £99 for 40 mins. Very disappointing.

Great Spa. Bit hard to find but lovely once you get in. Loads of space to move about and easy to get a lounger.
Only issues my locker did not open after and they had my name wrong on the booking which was so horrible.

This is the 4th time I have been to One Spa, and it will be the last. My partner and I could not believe our eyes last night as we witnessed an older couple being overly physically in the hydropool. They also seemed to have been drinking. A number of people noticed what was happening and like us, left the pool. Shortly afterwards what appeared to be management spoke to the couple in question, but they were not asked to leave. Absolutely shocking behaviour from the couple, but most worrying was the lack of action taken by staff.
We had read a lot of mixed reviews recently but decided to give it a go anyway. The facilities themselves were good, some maintenance issues, reception staff very friendly and professional. But the incident that took place and the fact that they weren't asked to leave was really awful.

I was staying as a guest at the hotel and booked the Escape at One experience. This give you access to the indoor pool, hydro pool and thermal suite.
The facilities were first class and the staff were wonderful and welcoming. This was one of my favourite parts of my trip, would highly recommend and will definitely be back

Since I last reviewed One Spa the staff seem to have been working hard to improve things. Everything is kept clean and the facilities are excellent. There are still quite a few maintenance issues and these can have an impact on a visit. There always seems to be one shower in the ladies changing room out of order and that can lead to queues for the showers at busy times. There are also problems with other guests especially in the hydropool. Photography is banned but the Instagram crowd ignores this rule. Overall it is a quality Spa with very friendly staff.

I had a stone massage with Kirsty and it was such a good experience I felt very relaxed afterwards. The spa is great with many saunas to choose from would highly recommend the himalayan salt sauna. Kirsty was very friendly and professional.

Hi - I was just wondering, is it the rooftop pool that under 16s are allowed in at certain times? I'd like to book here for my birthday (staying in the hotel), but with my teenage sons, so just trying to figure out if it would be worth it.

Do you need a reservation to use the pool and saunas with no treatments or is it ok to just show up?

I used this facility several times in high season.
they recommanded to book prior to arrival.
but it is not too busy without reservation.

Yes. It is open to public. There are two kinds of entrance fee: I) just pool, II) pool and spa part without treatments. Then treatments on top.
If you are a hotel guest and an SPG member option II is covered.

Can guest passes be used multiple times or without the actual spa member present?

It depends on which type of subscription you have. I had a one months subscription, and would receive a bracelet upon check-in that i can use throughout the day without assistance. I would need to return the bracelet upon check-out.

Hallo, ist es in Schottland üblich unbekleidet in die Sauna zu gehen oder ist es eine Textilsauna?
