About
The James Braid designed Prestonfield course is nestled below the stunning backdrop of Arthur’s seat in a former deer estate. With the imposing backdrop and mature trees, you would be forgiven for thinking the course was set in a country estate rather than only 1.5 miles from Edinburgh city centre. The views alone make Prestonfield a must visit, but the challenging 6200 yard course is also a gem. It is one of the longer in the city centre, yet is still a gentle walk with no severe gradients. Home to the PGA Prestonfield Pro Am since 2007 and also a regular fixture on the Lothians Golf Association and Scottish Ladies Golf Association calendar

One of many golf courses in Edinburgh
Jul 2020 • Solo
Visited as part of my lock down walks and found the grass was not as well maintained as other golf courses I had visited. It was unclear if the gate I entered by was supposed to be unlocked, as it seemed like a storage area. Didn’t see any signage to indicate entrances or exits, and also bumped into other walkers confused by this.

Golfing, eating and drinking

Superb course bear Edinburgh city centre. James Braid laid it out after the famous Dr Alister McKenzie had first walked the land. It's the club's centenary in 2020 and lots of history. A great introduction to Scotland if you've just flown in. The food and drink were first class and the views down to the bass rock from the clubhouse are outstanding.

RIP OFF FOR PARKING
Jun 2019 • Friends
Arranged a 4 ball a week in advance, arrived a few minutes late so didn't log in my car reg in the pro shop ( the other golfers did !) Ten days later I got a parking ticket (£60). Despite an appeal the Company refused to cancel it. So with no actual offence, civil or criminal, they still want £60. Won't believe that I had a booking even giving time, date and names. So BEWARE - money from parking "offences" seems to matter to this golf club - and now ? Lost custom !!!

Really good inner city course
Jun 2019 • Friends
Good test of your golf; not too hilly and has spectacular views of Arthurs Seat and East Lothian (and other parts of Edinburgh). Great location close to city centre, and much more reasonably priced than other similar courses. Also less stuffy than other courses; pro is friendly and other players also

Well worth a visit
May 2019 • Solo
From the states, a first visit to Edinburgh. Walking distance to the course. Needing left handed rental clubs, I touched base weeks before arrival and Daniel was very helpful and quick to respond. The clubs were waiting for me at arrival. Very friendly and welcoming staff. Fun and fair course. Just beautiful views of Arthur's Seat, which I stood on top of the following day and took pix of the course. Great first Scottish golf experience for an average golfer like me.

Diamond in the city

Se played the Prestonfield golf course in may. The location is fantastic, next to Arthur's seat. A very pleasant pro, Callum with nice attitude. The course is very nice with great thought spent on every hole. Also the condition of the course was very good, great finish of green & fairway. The bar was also very nice with a good selection of refreshments. And last but not least, the price is only a fraction of other courses in the area 😎😎

Edinburgh City centre golf course with a view!
May 2019 • Friends
Prestonfield golf course is situated in the shadow of Edinburgh’s Arthur Seat and less than 2 miles from the city centre.
At around 6200 yards its a fair test for the average golfer and visitors are welcome to hire clubs and/or a buggy from the profesionals shop.
The clubhouse has great views of the course and catering is excellent.
Book early to ensure you get the tee off times that would suit you at this popular course.

Golf day out with a view
Jul 2018 • Friends
Having been a member at the club now for 4 years each year the course gets better and better. The views from it are amazing showing of Edinburgh at its best. From the towering form of Arthurs seat overlooking the course to the observatory on the back nine in the distance. Every hole is challenging every green si manicured. This is a destination well worth a visit.

Staff was extremely nice and hospitable. Course was in fairly good shape. Fun round for the money. I would return.
