- Rory SEdinburgh, United Kingdom1 contributionA great time!Lind and Lime, located just off the shore in Leith, are a young and vibrant Gin company with a gorgeously designed front of house shop (the locally inspired artwork is seriously stunning), naturally cool and fun staff and an amazing working distillery tour. Fraser and Stuart, our two guides, were superb storytellers with great style and knowledge, and Tamsin, who welcomed us in for the experience, shared some fascinating insight and really made us feel welcome. She was amazing! It was hard not to be impressed at the thought, aesthetic and execution of the project and the tour. I would highly, highly recommend this experience to anybody local or just visiting the city, and personally will be eager to visit their whisky distillery once it's up and running.Aw shucks! Thanks loads! That's lovely to hear and we now all feel warm and fluffy inside! It was a real pleasure to welcome you to Lind & Lime and we very much look forward to seeing you at our new Port of Leith Whisky Distillery early next year. *prepares for further warm, fluffy feelsWritten July 5, 2022This response is the subjective opinion of the management representative and not of Tripadvisor LLC.Visited June 2022Traveled with friendsWritten June 17, 2022
- notenhen62 contributionsDelicious gin and fascinating insight into LeithThe distillery staff were brilliant. Tram works made us late for our 4pm tour and they happily rebooked us on to the 6pm tour instead. Being rainy outside and the last tour of the day, there were only 4 of us so we were able to chat and have a laugh with Annnabel and Gerry who took us through the history of the distillery and explained how the gin was made. It was a fascinating talk and the ticket price includes a double G&T, plus your own self made cocktail. Best to line your stomach first! The gift shop is full of lovely items and of course lots of booze. They also make port, champagne and sherry, so be prepared to spend a lot of money afterwards. The guys who set this place up obviously take a lot of pride in their product and have an eye for quality. They run the place sustainably too which is an added bonus. A really nice way to spend a couple of hours, and it's nearby plenty of places where you can carry on drinking or eating afterwards. Highly recommended. So pleased you learned lots and had fun too. We loved having you on our tour - your laughter and enthusiasm was infectious, Come back and visit again! - ClanMcLean7 contributionsLind and Lime is a complete gemSometimes you stumble across an absolute gem. Bought this gin from the John Lewis website a few months ago and thought lovely. Clean, crisp and balanced. Then on a visit to Edinburgh whilst shuffling through maps noticed the distillery in Leith not far from Malmaison where we were staying. Booked a couple tickets for the Thursday 4pm tour priced at £25 each. Going rate if you ask me. The welcome was so friendly. Gerry was full of his Irish banter and that made the whole thing start of well . There were 12 on the tour. Very small space. Really just a large unit with a still in the middle. A double G&T to start then Anna went through the history, ingredients (all set out on a table inviting you to taste), tour of the process and a chance to fill and label your own miniature. This was so informative and full of enthusiasm. Then invited to make a Gin Gimlet cocktail. All the ingredients laid out on a table and Gerry giving the instructions. Delicious. Of course the shop after and there was a great selection of the gin and other selected products. All with local provenance. We had already decided to buy gin for presents so it was a nice surprise when Anna told us 10% off cos we were at the Malmaison. A new partnership. All in all a wonderful 90mins. And think about it... Two double gins and your miniature to take away. Not at all bad for 25. Well done Lind and Lime. You're a credit to Scottish produce and the local tourism.Thank you so much for your wonderful and detailed feedback. Loved having you on the tour and hearing all about your former connection to Leith. So glad you had such a great time and that we were also able to give you some pointers about some of the new restaurants & bars in Leith. Come back and visit us in our new whisky distillery in the summer! - Vikki BertramEdinburgh, United Kingdom2 contributionsGreat gin tourWe had a fantastic time on our recent tour of the Lind and Lime Gin Distillery. We were greeted by the lovely Annabel who talked us through what the next few hours would consist of and checked we all liked tonic as other mixers could be provided if needed, it was clear she wanted to ensure we all had the best experience. The tour itself was great, Annabel made it really fun and interesting. We were a group that consisted of both Edinburgh locals and visitors to Edinburgh, we all found the history of both the gin and Leith really interesting and informative. Also having a chance to learn about the botanicals and taste them on their own was great. During the botanicals lesson you are given a double g&t to sip on, and once that’s done you learn about how the bottles are made and labelled. We really enjoyed making and labelling our own bottles, even if we did get a bit competitive. Gerry then took over and talked us through making a Gimlet. The cocktail was fantastic, as was Gerry’s demo and presentation. Once the tour was finished we enjoyed a taster of the Sherry, which we all loved too. Everyone in our group loved the couple of hours we spent with the team at Lind and Lime, we even popped back the next day to buy more goods from the shop! Overall, this tour is fantastic value for money. The cost of the ticket includes the tour itself, a double g&t, a cocktail, sherry tasting and your own wee bottle of Lind and Lime that you bottled and labelled yourself. We can’t wait to visit again and eventually visit their new Whisky distillery.Thank you for your detailed feedback and so glad you learned so much and had fun. We loved having you on the tour. You were all so keen and enthusiastic especially when you'd already visited a whisky distillery that day! I do hope you managed to get a dinner booking?! - SneddsEdinburgh, United Kingdom37 contributionsThe best gin tour!!Really enjoyed the tour of the Lind and Lime Gin Distillery. Lovely double G&T on arrival, through to the story about the name, tasting of the botanicals, bottling your own miniature, making your own cocktail and then tasting the sherry and port. The guides Annabel and Stuart were fantastic and really engaging. We've been on a few gin tours but this one was hands down the best. Thoroughly recommend.Thank you for your review. - Angelo C2 contributionsThe Ardour of JuniperFrom the moment I entered the facility, I found myself enamored by the quality of the fuselage housing their immaculate production line. Beauty in the details and charisma in the presentation—no devils at work but rather angels with tiny skilled fingers. Little had I considered my stance as a layman on gin until I was described the process by which they curate their fine libation, using only the most intriguingly coordinated combination of flavors I generally do not have a pallet for, extracting only the delicate kiss of each ingredient. As the tour carried on, I became swept away by the vivacity of the curious liquid as it began to take hold of my spirit, creating a change not unlike ambrosia might have once to the greek heroes, a swelling of verve tempered by the hands of balance and composure. I learned many things that day, not the least of which was about my own predilection for the medicinal tincture cum generous instigator of joyous propagation. It answered, for me, the question of where first we might mark the beginnings of civilization as the procurement of substances aimed only at our collective pleasure, transformed if not mutated from the sterile grip of necessity into the grace of desire and freedom. Long live the new gin, and May we enjoyed it a moment longer before the devil takes us. Salute!Wow! I can't thank you enough for such a lovely and thoughtful response. We really appreciate you taking the time to give us this feedback and I will be sure to forward it to the tour staff. We would love to see you again when our Whiskey distillery opens up next year and hear what you think. - Bertha1 contributionLovely tour with FraseIt was an absolute treat! Was running late to the tour and they managed to condense it to fit the timing! We really appreciate the going above and beyond. Fraser was exceptional he answered all questions he mesmerised us with his storytelling and all in all he made sure we had an exceptional time. I would definitely recommend!Your recommendation is greatly appreciated, I'm so glad you enjoyed your tour! I tried my absolute best to fit all the tours in the time you had, and I'm glad it paid off! Hopefully, we'll see you at our whisky distillery for the tour in October. - KKjaersideEdinburgh, United Kingdom64 contributionsGin experience that immersed all our sensesMyself and my wife enjoyed an afternoon and evening with no kids for a change. It started with a tour, tasting and cocktail making at Lind and Lime. Well what an experience it was too! From the moment we arrived, Fraser gave us a warm welcome with a really enjoyable, friendly and fun introduction. We then moved into the distillery itself, where Annabel took us through the story behind the making of Gin as we know it today, but also the story behind the Lind and Lime Distillery. Annabel made sure everyone was involved and able to feel immersed into the experience. Having to use all our senses for the storytelling, learning, and tasting went beyond any whisky or gin experiences I have been on before. Well done to all the team for making us feel so welcomed and creating such an engaging experience. I'll need to be back to pock up a bottle of gin or whisky soon.WOW, what a review! It made us blush it was so fabulous. We think that Lind & Lime is the perfect place to celebrate a child-free night out and we're so pleased that we were able to give you such a memorable experience. Please come back and visit us when our Port of Leith whisky distillery opens, Thanks, AnnabelWritten March 20, 2023This response is the subjective opinion of the management representative and not of Tripadvisor LLC.Visited March 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten March 18, 2023
- Lorraine A4 contributionsYou don't want to be the designated driver for this one!!!We had an amazing time on the tour at Lind and Lime. Fraser is a brilliant host, as was his colleague (sorry I didn't catch your name) who greeted us and was pouring the drinks! It's not just a bog standard gin tour, it brings the history of Leith and gin together in a way where even as long standing locals we learnt lots. Of course the tour starts off well when you're handed a double G&T to begin with. But then bottling your own sample and making a gimlet (each) was just brilliant. I cannot wait for when the whisky distillery starts tour's at Ocean Terminal. You've set the bar high now (literally) but I'm sure that will be excellent too. Thank you for helping me start my partner's retirement off with a gin soaked bang!Congratulations to your partner on retirement, I hope they are still enjoying themselves - with some gin! Your review goes a long way to keep us inspired to conduct the best tours we can, Leith's vetted history does a number to keep us interested also! Thank you very much!Written April 5, 2023This response is the subjective opinion of the management representative and not of Tripadvisor LLC.Visited March 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten April 1, 2023
- Yvonne M2 contributionsLind & Lime Gin ExperienceA visit to Lind & Lime Gin is highly recommend for any Gin lover. We went on the gin tour which was fantastic. Our guide Ian was very informative, funny and knowledgeable, from telling us the history behind the name, how the lovely bottle came to being and of course the trial and error in getting the unique Lind & Lime Gin flavour just right. After the tour we bottled and labelled our very own miniature bottle of Lind & Lime Gin, made a cocktail and sampled the lovely Sherry and Port which is also on sale in their shop. Whether you’re visiting Edinburgh or just looking for something to do Lind & Lime Gin is definitely worth a visit.Well, your review says it all really! Thank you so much. We are so pleased you had a such a good time and we hope to welcome you back soon.Written July 5, 2022This response is the subjective opinion of the management representative and not of Tripadvisor LLC.Visited May 2022Traveled with friendsWritten May 21, 2022

Fraser was a phenomenal, knowledgeable and entertaining host for our distillery tasting tour. The information shared was the perfect amount and the ability to actually bottle our very own gin and make the gimlet at the end of the tour set this one aside from other gin distillery tours I’ve joined. 10/10 highly recommend.

Staff very welcoming and clearly take great pride in working for the company. There were only 12 in our group which gave it a much more personal feel. Staff were very knowledgeable about the product and it’s history.
An entertaining experience - it’s good value for money, the gin is good and you get plenty to taste.
