This is an interesting 1 hour tour that takes you into Edinburgh’s past and through its underground streets. The entrance and ticket counter are directly on the Royal Mile, but you might need to book ahead, the tours sell out quickly. We booked for a...More

I really enjoyed this tour. Our guide was very entertaining and made me laugh out loud with his jokes, but the tour itself was very informative and well done. Great way to learn about the history of this city. Note - I forgot the name...More

This was really cool. And such a great way to share what life was like hundreds of years ago in a way that is interesting to kids.

I booked the tickets prior to visiting along with the guide and photo. Really good historical tour. The guide Courtney was informative and interesting. It was good for the children to actually see life during the centuries. A must if visiting Edinburgh.

I found the tour which is now mostly underground due to structures being build over original buildings from 1500 and forward very interesting. It brought to life the way the Scotish actually lived, work and survived the harsh environment of their formative years as a...More

I expected there to be more of the close, and the only intact building is not accessible. I'm glad I went but I was a bit dissapointed.

We visited Real Mary's Close with our tour group and were surprised by the history. Our guide was especially interesting in the way he presented the details of how people lived in that time.

Amazing and well explained. You can get into the way of living of people at that time. Very interesting including for the kids. Not recommended for people with claustophobia or don't like darkness places.

Few Edinburghers live in the Old Town, but its
labyrinth of dank alleys and steep streets suggests
this was not always the case. Today, it’s mostly
visitors, tartan-flavored souvenir shops, and pipers
that you’ll find on its cobbled streets. This is the
place to get a feel for Auld Reekie (Old Smelly), as
the town was once nicknamed, and stroll the Royal
Mile, the thoroughfare that links the castle with the
