Visited Edinburgh for the weekend with my girlfriend and was here today. Such an interesting journey through time made even better by Tom's performance while guiding us through the close. He definitely made is so much more interesting and created a great atmosphere whilst going round. Would recommend to everyone. 5 stars for Tom!

Felt that the group for each tour was too large. Attempting to cram 20 people around one window, we ended up listening to the guide talking, without seeing what they are talking about. Not to the fault of the tour but a lot of the underground rooms were restructured when the city was built on top, in order hold its... More

Me and my Husband visited this tour on our trip to Edinburgh. After reading a lot of positive reviews we decided to give it a visit. We were very disappointed. Our tour guide seemed to be on... What can only be described as an amphetamine. She mumbled very fast and had this weird nervous giggle. We didn't find that there... More

Thoroughly enjoyed this tour on our trip to Edinburgh. The tour guide was enthusiastic and the facts were fascinating and just a bit grim!

Myself and my boyfriend visited on the 11th of January. We had Katie as our tour guide who was excellent. Overall the tour was very fun and informative, different to any other attraction I have visited which made it so good.

A very enjoyable trip. Had a host dressed in period costume who was brilliant at setting the scene and explaining everything. It was amazing to be standing in a real piece of history and was thoroughly enjoyed by all those in our group of friends and has been visited by family since who have all loved the tour just as... Staying in Old Town

Neighborhood Profile
Old Town
Few Edinburghers live in the Old Town, but its labyrinth of dank alleys and steep streets suggests this was not always the case. Today, it’s mostly visitors, tartan-flavored souvenir shops, and pipers that you’ll find on its cobbled streets. This is the place to get a feel for Auld Reekie (Old Smelly), as the town was once nicknamed, and stroll the Royal Mile, the thoroughfare that links the castle with the royal palace – two of Edinburgh’s great set-piece attractions. But there’s lots more exploring to do here down dozens of little alleys, or wynds, while at night the city’s busiest clubs erupt along the Cowgate which is closed to traffic for this purpose.
