Visiting the Royal Yacht was my companions choice, I was indifferent beforehand. My opinion was very quickly changed, however. This was a very interesting visit, well signed, with lots of useful information without being overwhelmed with details. We took refreshments on board which was a very pleasant and recommended experience. The most notable thing was the friendliness and helpfulness of... More

My husband has spent some time on warships so he wasn't all that interested when I mentioned this but I'm glad I talked him round. We both found it very interesting, credit needs to be given to the audio tour which make everything seem relevant. Was great to have a nose around what was in effect a royal household and... More

Absolutely loved this visit I spent ages taking all the history in and enjoyed all the photos of who in the Royal family had sailed in her. The Experience was second to none I felt really welcome from all the staff and nothing seems like to much to ask. The engine room is fascinating and the furnishings are amazing. This... More

I wasn't particularly interested in visiting the Royal Yacht Britannia and only went because it was included in the price of our 'hop on hop off' bus ticket package. I was completely surprised at how much I enjoyed the visit and found everything to be interesting and absorbing. Definitely worth a visit and definitely worth having tea or a glass... More

Well worth the money but allow 3 hours to do this (if you add a cup of tea in the dining area). The handset audio guides which are free on admission are essential and give so much interesting information. A great place to visit.

I am not a Royalist but couldn't miss out on this historical prize whilst a few days in Edinburgh. So impressively sited and in my book value for money. 2/3 hours sped past and it was at a leisurely stroll taking in how the other half lived. Superbly preserved, audio aid brilliant, photos no problem(unlike other establishments) and a very very... More

This is well worth a visit. Lets you see how the elite lived and were served. This in its day was the height of luxury and wealth. The Ocean terminal shopping where the yacht is based is also an excellent area for shopping. All manners of stores there.

I've spent a bit of time in Edingburgh, and touring the Royal Yacht is one of my best memories. Whether you have a particular interest in the British monarchy or navel vessels, it's a fascinating glimpse of 20th Century history. And the cleanest ship's engine room you'll ever see! Lots of fascinating small, personal items from the Royal Family and... More

Thank you for visiting Britannia. It’s wonderful to learn that touring Britannia is one of your best memories from your time in Edinburgh. As you mention, the majority of items on board are original to Britannia and kindly on loan from the Royal Collection. Many thanks for your five-star review. More
