For a mere £20 for 24 hour access the Bus Tours Edinburgh offer a hop on hop off ride around all the sites of this beautiful historic city. The drivers and guides on the buses are very knowledgeable and friendly and made the ride so very interesting. The day we rode the weather was a bit drizzly but there were... More

The Edinburgh bus tours are a great way to see the City and get your bearings if you are a first time visitor to this beautiful City. We bought the ticket that allows you to get on any of the main tours-4 in total. Ticket lasts over 24 hours and although there is an overlap, as the tour guides are... More

Excellent value for money. You can jump off and on the buses at any of the designated stops do a bit of exploring then jump back on when you're ready. You can choose to have "live" tour guide or choose a bus with recorded commentary. If you don't want to jump on and off the tour will take approximately 65... More

We decided on the Green Bus from Edinburgh Bus Tours, with a day ticket which is valid for 24hrs from point of purchase, picked up one at 1pm which was the right time, first day we used the service to get around the sights listening to some of the guide but focusing more on getting around. Jumped off the bus... More

I try to spend at least one day on the hop on hop off buses in every city that offers them. They are a great way to get a layout, jump off where you want and have the major sights pointed out and explained. They run usually every fifteen to twenty minutes, the pricing is very reasonable and the drivers helpful.

A great way to see Edinburgh! There are 4 different buses and multiple bus routes. The red and maroon bus routes provide live guides which were great and gave such interesting facts, in addition to the information about the city. A great tour!

A relaxing way to get familiar with a new city. Learn the history and some stories about Edinburgh. It stops at several location around the city. Busses run about every 15-20 minutes. You can buy a two day pass for only a couple more pounds.

We bought two two-day tickets. The idea is that you can "hop on, hop off" at any on of a number of attractions. We rode to Holyrood Palace from a stop near our hotel on the other side of the city. We had two different guides. Both of them told stories about people and didn't always tell about the places... More

Staying in Princes Street and Gardens

Neighborhood Profile
Princes Street and Gardens
Glaswegians tease Edinburghers that their High Street is only half one, since buildings only line one side. But what they don’t say is how extraordinary the views are from Princes Street as a result. From here you look onto expansive and decorative public gardens beneath the mighty basalt cliffs on which Edinburgh’s Castle stands proud above the rest of the dramatic old town skyline. Yet many of those on Princes Street look the other way, as they’re concerned with chain store shopping or catching the tram or a train at main train station Waverley. But it’s not all utility here; the Scottish National Gallery rewards purposeless wandering, and December’s huge winter market in the gardens begins a season of revelry which ends with Hogmanay, Britain’s largest New Year’s street party.
