About
We welcome you to The Raging Bull, an Edinburgh Cocktail Bar famous for its Espresso Martinis. Our cosy bar is inspired by the eccentric yet good natured fellow, The Raging bull and his friends. As you walk through the door directly to your left hangs a mural of The Bull himself drinking with his lady. He has become accustomed to drinking his cocktails in comfortable and stylish surroundings. So, expect rustic walls, marble tables, natural foliage and walls adorned with pictures of the handsome Bull when you visit us. Rumour has it the first Espresso Martini was invented in 1983, but we will let you into a little secret. The Raging Bull has been drinking these delightful caffeinated concoctions way before that to keep him up at night! We take our alcohol seriously, but we want to have fun doing it. So please leave any inhibitions at the door and take a walk on the wild side!

Prevailing winds meant that most cities that grew in industrial Britain had their most desirable neighborhoods to the west – upwind of factory fumes. Edinburgh was no exception, with its wealthiest citizens settling in its West End and leaving behind grand Georgian townhouses, private gardens and genteel crescents. These backstreets remain as dignified and sleepy as ever, and most of the action here lies along the district’s busy main roads. Lothian Road connects to southern Edinburgh and harbors a vague entertainment district: three theaters and the city’s main indie cinema. All attract a select crowd, the sort who appreciate the Saturday Edinburgh’s Farmers’ Market around the corner. The West End’s other great thoroughfare, Shandwick Place, is dominated by trams trundling out to the suburbs and airport, and shoppers picking up last-minute items before hopping aboard.

We stumbled across the Raging Bull when we were looking for somewhere to have a drink around 17:30 on a Friday night. Initially it was fairly quiet so we easily found a table and chairs but when we left at 19:15 it had filled up and there was standing room only, many of the customers seemed to have arrived after work to meet up with friends. Despite the volume of the music and everyone talking loudly it still managed to have a fairly intimate feel, possibly because it is fairly small. There was a limited choice of wine and the beer options were a bit disappointing - the only dark beers were both IPA and they were american style (so gassy). As an ale drinker I would have liked to see a more traditional cask ale on offer. It definitely appears to favour cocktails, whiskies and gins - maybe this is what their regulars prefer (many of the reviews do praise their cocktails). The bar staff were pretty efficient and seemed to serve people in the order they arrived. I'd go again if I lived or worked in Edinburgh but I'd make sure I arrived early.

    Our favourite bar in Edinburgh
We absolutely loved this place and for us they were the best cocktails we had in Edinburgh. There’s such an amazing bar scene in Edinburgh and some really cool bars to choose from but overall the quality of the drinks and good atmosphere swung it for us. We also went to Tonic, Panda & Sons and The Last Word Saloon, all of which were also great and I’d recommend, with some really inventive cocktails. The Raging Bull’s drinks felt inventive in an accessible way, with unusual and delicious twists on familiar drinks. The Tartan Tiki was so clever - I loved the way the Laphroaig elevated a mai tai type cocktail. Mint espresso martini was to die for!

Possibly the BEST cocktail bar I’ve ever visited.
Possibly the BEST cocktail bar I’ve ever been in. Me, my partner and another couple visited on a weekend break to Edinburgh. Me & my friend had visited before in 2020 so when back in Edinburgh this time with our partners we booked a table for Friday night cocktails. We were seated downstairs, the atmosphere was brilliant, great mood lighting, comfy seats, and the cocktails are INSANE. Although the 2230 close in Scotland is abit of a bummer as we would of easily stayed until a lot later as we were having such a good time- but hey ho, that irrelevant here. 100% would recommend a visit, even better experience the 2nd time around and we thought that was impossible.

Nice little cocktail bar with really nice staff.
We were looking for somewhere for a couple of quiet drinks in the afternoon and came across "the raging bull". At first we thought the bar was closed but went in and as we entered we were greeted by a very friendly barman who gave us an option of seating. We ordered a pornstar martini and a jamaican me crazy which were both really nice, the barman came and checked we were OK and asked us how our visit to Edinburgh was going, we then ordered an expresso martini and a pint of "big juicy tenants" both of which were also both really nice. The barman was really friendly and attentive but also gave us enough space to enjoy our drinks, I'd really recommend the raging bull for very tasty cocktails, the 4 drinks cost us around £30 which I think is the going rate for drinks in Edinburgh.

    Cosy cocktails
Super cosy and intimate setting with some really unique decor. Staff were all lovely and very knowledgeable when it came to the drinks. Cocktails themselves were towards the higher end price wise but were expertly crafted. I can highly recommend the 'Cheeky Tiki'!
Thanks for your review Edd! Glad you enjoyed the Cheeky Tiki, it was a very popular drink on our Summer menu!

Great bar with all the COVID19 protections
Walked past here while looking for a place to drink with my friend who I hadn't caught up with for months and decided to go in. Bar service was amazing from everyone who spoke to us, COVID protections in place with tables blocked off and the whole place feels safe. Nice find on Lothian Road

    Cosy cocktail bar
We stopped in here on a Tuesday night during a city break to Edinburgh. Whilst we got in with no reservation I would highly recommend booking a table to avoid disappointment as I would expect this place fills up fast especially at the weekends. The cocktails were fantastic, the staff were great and there was a lovely atmosphere. We stuck to trying out the menu however, we were told if there was anything else we fancied to let them know. We will definitely be back if we are in the area again.

    Great cocktails and service
We booked a table for 4 on a Saturday afternoon. The bar was busy but well spaced out and organised. The cocktails were great and were made so quickly. The staff were very friendly despite them being rush off their feet! There was something for everyone on the menu. Will definitely be back. Courtney (may have spelt that wrong) was working really hard serving the tables with a smile and the guys behind the bar were making drinks non stop. Nice relaxed atmosphere. Great quality drinks without any fuss that comes with some cocktail bars.

Highly recommend - fantastic atmosphere and cocktails
We had an absolutely fantastic booking the other day for cocktails at The Raging Bull. Had never been before but the reviews and choice for different espresso martinis made us try this place and we're so glad we did. The cocktail selection is fantastic and every single one we tried was top quality (coconut espresso martini is a revelation) - you can tell they've put a lot of thought into each one. The Lychee Martini was exceptionally good. The staff are totally lovely too and there's a real welcoming atmosphere about the place, which manages to feel both comfortable and relaxed but also like you're somewhere special. I'd recommend this place to anyone, and I'll 100% be visiting again when back in Edinburgh.

    Lovely and unique cocktail bar
We'd researched this place online before visiting for pre-dinner drinks and it was exactly what we had hoped it would be. Laid back atmosphere, lots of space, nice interior and very friendly and knowledgeable staff. The cocktails we had (Lychee martinis) were delicious and full of flavour – not cheap but you pay for the overall experience. Would definitely return.

Went here as part of a sightseeing and bar crawl day in Edinburgh. It was the 1st and best bar we went in.

Service is impeccable, drinks were unique and also if there is something you want ( not in menu) they will make it for you.

Was quiet when we arrived but I can imagine it gets busy.

This place is doing what every other bar should be, putting its customers first.

Super clean and felt comfortable.

Recommend the green samurai ✅

Will be back ASAP

This is a Fabulous cocktail bar with beautiful quirky decor and excellent staff. The staff are welcoming, friendly, and always ready to help with your choice. The cocktails themselves are amazing, especially the range of espresso martinis but there is something on the menu for everyone’s taste in addition to all the standard cocktails that are also available. Absolutely love the places don’t would not hesitate to recommend to anyone with a taste for cocktails.

From the moment you walk through the door at The Raging Bull, Ross and his team are incredibly welcoming and helpful. The bar has a lovely ambience, comfortable seating and colourful decor. The cocktail menu has something for every taste. But if you’re undecided the staff are very knowledgeable and will help you select a cocktail to suit your taste. They also offer cocktail master classes where you can learn to make your own cocktails. Definitely recommend a visit to The Raging Bull.
