Wonderful tour, our guide Gordon was great. He was able to answer lots of questions, kept us appraised of the weather and even got us out of a sticky situation that could have ruined the whole day! Absolutely would go again. Ben Vrackies is a great hike for experienced hikers, that last bit is pretty much a mile of stair case.

Wow!! What a day!

To start, Intrepidus Outdoors provided excellent communication from our very first email months before the excursion, up until the day of. Their colorful mini bus promptly picked us up directly from our hotel in Edinburgh and drove our family an hour away to Dollar Canyon.

Let me preface this by saying we are a fit family + we have canyoneered in Moab, UT and Maui, Hawaii prior to this excursion, so our family is familiar with harnesses, rappelling, and didn’t have the anxiety that a first-timer might have had in an adventure like this… plus this was the BEST experience we have ever had! Wow!!

Our guide, Ross, was friendly and warm and earned our trust quickly on the drive to the canyon. After arriving, we were fitted with neoprene suits, booties and helmets and began a very steep hike up to the top of the falls.

The suits kept us quite warm while we cliff jumped, zip-lined, rappelled, slid down rock waterslides, scrambled, and hiked through the canyon for several hours.

The excursion requires stamina, physical fitness, and a positive, confident, trusting mindset. What a great way to bond with our teenage boys! This was an experience of a lifetime and we would love to do it again!

Thank you Ross and Intrepidus Outdoors for an incredible day!

Fantastic trip from start to finish! Thanks to all the guys for making us all feel safe and confident throughout. Communication from Emma and Ross was great, really quick responses and answered all our questions. The hardest part was definitely the walk up the hill in the wetsuits - everything after that was a breeze! The door to door pickup was great too, it made organising very straightforward. I would definitely recommend this company to anyone.

My wife and I did the canyoning trip with Ross and Alex and our 4 boys. Definitely one of the highlights of our trip. The abseiling was new to us, but they guided us through it and it was a blast. We really enjoyed getting to see the beauty of Scotland through this adventure.

To anyone looking to tour Scotland (in a non-touristy, somewhat physically active way):

A. There are walking tours and there are OUTDOOR tours. If you want to rent a van and go from point to point to point buying souvenirs/coffee/whisky, this may not be for you (but read on, please).

B. Scotland is a beautiful country will all kinds of nooks, crannies and complicated roads - it’s best to have a seasoned navigator.

C. Most tour groups in Scotland operate under managed standards. But not ALL of them are equipped to offer, support, maintain and encourage ‘nature’ experiences.

D. Those looking to get-out into the countryside and experience all that Scotland has to offer should start at Intrepedus.

E. Intrepidous can handle the spectrum - half-day walks in the countryside to the wild/wooly fun stuff in caverns/coast/big-climbs.

F. THIS IS WHY ‘PEOPLE LIKE US’ TRAVEL - to see what makes each place unique, beautiful and good. Intrepidus is in-it for the experience of sharing the great natural features of Scotland with the world. :)

G. Pack your own food, water. Expect a guide/guides who care deeply about their work, clean and trendy transport and an experience that will utterly be worth the fee.

Bottom line - party of five of us climbed Ben Vrackie, an experience that was navigated and narrated by Entrepidus; outstanding time learning much of Scotland, the nature and culture of the land.

Happy to answer questions but heartily recommend and will 100% use them again.

Ross and Mikey from Intrepidus took a group of eight from a hostel in Edinburgh to the Summit of Ben Nevis and back again within a day in what was an unforgettable, stress-free, start to a stag-do weekend. We had incredible luck with the weather too!

Everything ran like clockwork. The booking process was incredibly simple and requirements for the trip (kit etc) were made very clear from the outset. Logistics on the day also couldn't have gone any smoother.

Our group became quite spread out on the ascent/descent in terms of pace, however Mikey and Ross were able to keep tabs on us all so that we completed the walk in good time, safely and that everyone enjoyed themselves. They were a brilliant source of knowledge and advice during the walk, managing to break it all down into less daunting steps for everybody, but at the same time weren't overbearing in guiding us.

Ultimately, it felt like Intrepidus were incredibly good at reading what we were looking for as a group and delivering - diverting us to a pub at the foot of the mountain on the way back, for example, and generally made what could have been quite a hectic day-out very straightforward.

Would highly recommend to anyone seeking adventure in the Scottish highlands.

Ross and Mikey made our Ben Nevis excursion a breeze. They picked us up promptly from Edinburgh in a comfortable minibus and sped us into the Highlands, where Ross provided helpful commentaries on all the sights. There was no faffing about when we got to the mountain - which was appreciated as we were all eager to get started - and Ross set a healthy pace up the trail for the more adventurous among us while Mikey kindly stayed with the slower folk (me included). At no point did we feel hurried, unsafe, or overwhelmed, which is a testament to the team's professionalism. 10/10, would do it again in a heartbeat.

We went on two trips with Intrepidus and I can very strongly recommend them!
From the friendly communication and support in the planning process to the equipment and professionalism during the activities... everything was top-notch.
Greetings to canoe legend Bob, our sure-footed mountain guide Gordon as well as Ross and Mikey who helped us to survive the Canyon of Bruar

Brilliant from start to finish -10 of us were on a stag do, and we were picked up at our hostel door by the brilliant Ross, he drove us up to Dollar Falls where we met our second guide, Harrison.

We were given full, fitted (and new!) equipment which kept you warm and comfortable throughout.

There was then a short walk to a couple of safety briefings, and within half an hour the experience started, and it's absolutely fantastic - comfortably one of the best excursions I've done in the UK.

The guides made it safe, fun and a great laugh for us - they gave absolute confidence and clear instruction in a really calm manner.

I honestly can't recommend this highly enough - 10/10, it's no surprise at all that they're so positively reviewed here, don't think about it - just book!
