This is a bar where you can sit, in minimalist surroundings, and drink good craft (not cask) beer.
There is a room to the rear of the bar providing additional seating, but this place is not about seating, it's about beer.
A major plank is providing beer in jugs (growlers) of varying size, for carry-out, as well as a fine selection of bottled and canned beer suitable for the aficionado.
There are some rather interesting bar snacks and biscuits, and you can also order pizzas from a local shop for consumption in the bar.
Check the opening hours though.
Friendly and knowledgeable staff complete the picture.

Had another chance to visit my favorite spot in Leith and brought along a group of work people. The barman was great, the beer was flowing, and the crackling righteous.
As usual this place is a total hipster hive and totally fits in with the reinvestment of the area.
Had a few fellow Americans stop in whilst we were there which was pretty cool... but not entirely unsurprising as the Dockside Tap has a very American feel to the way they do things.
Hands down, recommend time and time again... if you find yourself nearby and want some legit craft brews, come here!

We popped in here just before heading off to dinner. We'd tried their beers before at a festival so popped in to try some more.
Friendly barman served us, both drinks reasonably priced (and local).
Seems to be a local for the running club as they had just arrived as we were leaving and had already been in!! Next time we're in Leith we'll come back and try some more!

Dropped in here on a Friday night about 2000hrs (they closed at 2100 so that was a bit of luck), we were on our way to dinner round the corner and wanted to get a drink first.
Several beers on tap, and also a bottle shop (you needed to buy more than 1 for some legal reason). You could even get beers by the litre!
Got chatting with the barman and he recommended other craft pubs to try out as well as the Stewart Brewery tour which have now been added to our list of places to visit. We were also told of some plans to sort out food/beer nights and tasting sessions etc. If they have a mailing list and you live locally you should be on it!
All in, definitely a place to go to waste an hour or so sampling Stewart's wares.

Staff were very friendly and atmosphere in the place was great. Gooseberry IPA excellent. If it wasn't so far from home I'd be here a lot more often

I stopped in due to the reviews and wasn't disappointed. The place is a relaxing small place with 10 different taps and multiple bottles to choose from. Very friendly staff and locals! I'll be back.

The beers are always changing and you can try sours, stouts or traditional. The staff are also really nice and make some great recommendations on whats on tap each time you visit. Once you find a favorite you can even take a growler home.

Having been here once before, I knew the next time my ship was docked in Leith that Stewart's Dockside was going to be my place. Always excellent service from knowledgeable staff who are obviously passionate about their companies brews. Though generally they only have their own offerings on tap, they have a large can/bottle/keg fridge that often has guest beers on.
The place is the epitome of hipster, not in just being an American style tap house, but with the plywood/industrial interior. I personally dig the place so hipster or not, the beers they do are worth the stereotype.
The place is quite small, so I imagine they can get busy, especially as they are the only place like it nearby. Nothing against all the close ale pubs, but this place definitely stands out in the area.
Do yourself a favor, if you find yourself in Leith for whatever reason, stop by this place for some great craft beers on tap, and at a price that won't break the bank.

From the outside we thought this was an off license but when we realised it was a bar we ventured in & I’m glad we did, this a brewery bar & unlike Innis & Gunn’s & Brewdogs bars you don’t pay inflated prices, there are 12 beers to choose from & are about £3 a schooner, I really liked the Belgian ipa, you can take away beers either in special tankards or plastic bottles (1 or 2 litres) which then work out under £3 a pint, Joe the bar manager is really friendly & will tell you all about the brewery, well worth a visit

I'm not the biggest fan of craft beer but I must admit I really enjoyed a recent visit to the Dockside Tap. On my visit they had 9 keg beers available across a wide selection of beer styles, also available was a large selection of bottled beers. For beer lovers there is also the added advantage that you can buy the available draught beers to takeaway.
Another added bonus is thatmany places that sell 2/3 pints seem to use it as an excuse to hike up the price. This does not seem to be the case at the Dockside Tap, where all beers were very reasonably price, especially for Edinburgh.
The bloke behind the bar was also very friendly and knowledgable. I look forward to my next visit.
