We were picked up on the Royal Mile by Nero’s cafe. Don’t be late! Bus leaves 8 am sharp but it was good they send an email in advance to inform about this. Prepare for a long day in the bus but it was well worth it. Bring Snacks…
We saw more of Scotland than expected definitely an experience. We had a wonderful tour guide who told about everything about Scottish highlands. Many ninja stops for a quick photography session.

I booked the 3-day trip to Isle of Mull and the Isle of Iona for me and my mum. We had the most amazing time, learned so much relevant historical information, the best history lesson ever because our guide Bob ,who had so much knowledge about everything, he made the trip extra special with his humour and expertise, as did the rest of the party , such a great bunch to meet and enjoy the experience with. My main reason for booking was to go to Iona and I wasn't disappointed but the whole trip exceeded my expectations, it was such fun. If you're interested in history, the beautiful Scottish scenery and don't mind sitting in a wee coach, joining in with a wee bit of banter with your guide and fellow travellers, I'd highly recommend this trip. It was lovely to see Tobermory where we stayed for the 2 nights and you'll have a choice of places to eat and enjoy an array of seafood and a wee dram or whatever you fancy. The weather was changeable but if you embrace the mist and rain, defy it from spoiling your visit, dress appropriately and make it part of the experience, it is Scotland after all, we were lucky that the sun shone on the day we went to Iona showing off the Islands beautiful clear blue waters. The Abbey is worth a visit too. I hope to visit again or perhaps choose one of the other trips on offer with the company.

Can't seem to find the 5 day islands tour we did.

I wouldnt rate this 5 stars if it wasnt for Jamie the tourguide. A real phenomenon in quilt and 100s of Scottish stories all told from the head and heart.

While touring he plays some great songs most with a Scottish origin also again telling a story with all the artists!! While driving along the highlands i must admit some songs made us emotional.

The tour brings you to Skye, Inverness, Oban, Castle Eilean Donan, Loch Ness and many many stops along the way. Give Jamie his own tour programme!

But 5 stars doesn't mean things could be better at highland experience

The bus had really bad suspension and was not that luxurious as the one we had for just a one day whiskey tour. When you sent people on 5 days in a bus I expect the best you at least can offer. Especially when you know the roads are sometimes that bad. Usb charger in bus were great but didn't all work. Pick a good bus!

Another thing were the choosen hotels. We had quite some bad nights out of 4 because of the sounds we could here in 2 of them. Even a buzzing telephone at 5 am on snooze was just like we had it next to us.

I would rather pay more for a bit more luxury. Also the breakfast was not a promised but Jamie made up for that with his management the final morning at Loch Ness. Here we were served a real breakfast as compensation.

The programme was especially good on the second third and fourth day. The programme could be a bit more exciting on the other 2 days. Especially the final day felt a bit lost. Maybe a 4 day tour to Skye would have been better for us.

All in all, thanks again to Jamie!

Not a good experience at all. Spent over $800 for a private tour and wasn’t worth half the money. Driver/tour guide was lazy, unprofessional, unprepared and unkept. The van wreaked of sweat, dirt and unwashed clothes. Our driver never once assisted my 70 year old mother into the van (which had no steps for entry) and only assisted us once with an extremely heavy and dysfunctional door. We had to push open the door upon entry and exit. We asked our driver to speak up repeatedly (because she had no microphone) as we could not hear her, and she did not. She spent majority of the time in the van texting. The weather prevented us from much of our planned itinerary but the driver/tour guide had no back up plan for us. We didn’t mind the weather at all, but a professional tour guide who planned ahead would have had suggestions and a back up plan considering how much we paid for the private tour. But ours did not. A total waste of money. Do not pay for a private tour with Highland Experience unless you want to pay for a bad experience.

Dear Tai Bonilla, We are very surprised to read your review as you have not reached out to us directly with your complaints. After careful investigation of your comments, we disagree with many of your statements, and are shocked to read them as we have had only positive reviews about your driver-guide. Our vehicles are deep cleaned between each tour and have a footstool to help people get onto and out of the vehicle. Our driver-guide confirmed she offered this to you multiple times and it was declined. She also offered help with the doors multiple times but her offer of help was often declined. At no point whilst driving was our driver-guide texting. Rather, when the vehicle was stationary she was checking for updates on the opening times of Stirling Castle, and making sure there were no road closures / diversions, due to adverse weather. (probably the culprit for our guide's windswept look as I'm sure you all had that day!). Your driver-guide discussed the plan for the day with you multiple times to make sure you were happy with the slightly updated route and you all agreed. You were still able to visit the Wallace Monument, Stirling Castle and Glengoyne Distillery as planned and Doune Castle was added as an additional stop. Your time was extended in Stirling to have lunch there and ensure you were able to tour the castle at it's later opening time, rather than have lunch at Loch Lomond due to adverse weather. Our driver-guide also confirmed at the end of the tour she helped you out of the vehicle and thanked you for your understanding, as weather in Scotland can be unpredictable and cause issues sometimes. You thanked her and tipped her. So, again we are very surprised by your feedback. If you would like to reach out and discuss this further you can contact us on feedback@highlandexperience.com Kind regards, Clare

DOT NOT PURCHASE THIS TOUR. They refuse to refund bookings even when you cancel as per their own cancellation policies. They also ignore multiple emails asking for refunds. In a Covid world with government restrictions stopping people from travelling, this company is not friendly to customers and refuses to offer refunds for tours customers can not travel across the world to attend. Disgraceful.

I did the Isle of Skye one day tour from Inverness. While the scenery and landscapes were of course spectacular, I did not have a great experience with the tour itself. The bus was stuffy, smelly, and uncomfortable. My seat was where the windows divide, and so I had a pretty terrible view, which matters because a good part of the day is spent on the bus. And while I’m sure many people did, I just didn’t resonate with the tour guides. I felt the energy tone of the day was rushed and frenetic. I would highly recommend booking with a smaller tour such as Rabbie’s. I did that today and it’s a world of difference!

I checked “none of the above” since I designed my own 14 day tour of Scotland for kids and teenage grandkids, booked the hotels and some places to visit and asked Highland Experience if they could provide bus and driver who could provide local knowledge and fill in the gaps. This they did, I assume willingly since they provided an excellent vehicle and one of the best driver/guides I have ever worked with. From the minute Barry picked us up outside the Hilton in Edinburgh old town during the Edinburgh Marathon when all roads were closed I knew it would work. Despite the road closures throughout the old town, Barry was there on time, breathless to explain that he had to part three blocks away and we needed to move fast before he was towed!
From there it just got better. I have toured Scotland many times and had the basic route mapped our but Barry added a locals flair that only made things better. He knew more hidden gems that are written in most guidebooks. Some locations he made us swear not to divulge to others. I know he took us places that few tourists ever get to visit.
He also gave us great suggestions of places to eat, and even better gave us an honest opinion on places not to visit! He quickly became a great part of the “family” and shared much of his life experiences and some stories from prior tours that will not be put into print.
Highland Experience is a great company to work with and Barry is, in my book, one of their best drivers.
Thanks guys.

We booked a private tour and airport transfers for a group of 24 students (16-18 yo) and accompanying teachers through HE and had a great time. Our driver/guide Alex was helpful, flexible, knowledgeable and made sure everyone was doing well.
I have booked several day trips, multi day tours and private group tours with Highland Experience and they are 100% my go to tour company.

We decided last minute to try to get out to the Highlands and Loch Ness, so we felt lucky to have found this tour. It makes for a long day, but if you don’t mind hanging out with strangers all day and being driven around in a small bus, it’s a pretty inexpensive way to see some of Scotland’s greatest sights. The Highlands and Loch Ness were certainly some of the best things that we visited. Enjoy!

I would recommend this tour, our tour guide Brodie was very nice and I’d like to thank him for perfect trip, even when we had some issues with bus at the beginning (not his fault), he stayed calm and proffesional. He told us a lot of interesting infos about history and places we have been. We enjoyed our 3 days trip at maximum!
