Neighborhood: Old Town
Few Edinburghers live in the Old Town, but its labyrinth of dank alleys and steep streets suggests this was not always the case. Today, it’s mostly visitors, tartan-flavored souvenir shops, and pipers that you’ll find on its cobbled streets. This is the place to get a feel for Auld Reekie (Old Smelly), as the town was once nicknamed, and stroll the Royal Mile, the thoroughfare that links the castle with the royal palace – two of Edinburgh’s great set-piece attractions. But there’s lots more exploring to do here down dozens of little alleys, or wynds, while at night the city’s busiest clubs erupt along the Cowgate which is closed to traffic for this purpose.

A Great tribute to a great explorer of Africa. The statue was dirty on one side due to Pigeon droppings and I got the best picture I could of it.

This is a very average statue in the princes street garden. There isn’t actually a story to it. The man looks ok too.

This 1876 statue of David Livingstone show him with a book in outstretched in his right hand, long-handled axe in left, with lion skin behind him. David Livingstone was born in Blantyre in 1813. He died in Africa in 1873 whilst searching for the source of the Nile.

That's the boy, though I am sure he never thought his statue would end up in the cold north of Britain, this guy is more famous for his escapade in Africa, noce statue anyway, you will probably see it while your here, because it is in tourist central, usually with Bagpipe busker beneath.

Overshadowed by the imposing Scott monument which is close by it is a little under whelming for such a famous man.

The David Livingstone Statue is located next to the Scott Monument in the Princes street Gardens. Perhaps it's a bit too close to the other monument as it is very easy to miss if you don't try to find it hard enough, or if you are just walking by. Be that as it may, the Livingstone statue is nice enough, but pity its poor head and shoulders, as they provide a perfect landing platform for the local birds. Worth checking out if you are in the vicinity.
