- StillvapourBasingstoke, United Kingdom3 contributionsA great place for locally sourced souvenirsOn a recent trip to Edinburgh, we were keen to find somewhere selling locally sourced Edinburgh memorabilia and souvenirs so that we could give something back to the local community. Our tour guide suggested The Scottish Design Exchange and this led to over an hour of enjoyable browsing through a large number of products from local artists. The items we bought were reasonably priced, good quality and now evoke fond memories of our trip whenever we use them, thanks so much!Visited October 2021Traveled as a coupleWritten November 7, 2021
- Deborah CToronto, Canada75 contributionsOne of a kind shoppingWonderful shopping site. I love to find one of a kind ( not mass produced) items, and the design exchange was a treasure trove of goods. I shopped online to see what type of products were listed, and when I visited in October I bought those items and others. I particularly like the Hebridean pendants and earrings, but also prints and textile items. This is a shop worth visiting on another holiday, as I’m sure there would be different items on display.Visited October 2022Written November 16, 2022
- BarbaraBarbaraMurphy, Texas2 contributionsGotta visit this shopLove, love, love this place. They have a huge selection of local artists with decor items as well as tourist interest items. So many artists within, maybe almost 75. Fun, as well as culturally significant items made by local artists feel good about your shopping! And fabulously helpful staff.Visited April 2023Written April 23, 2023

Next time I go to Edinburgh I will bring enough space in my suitcase to buy and take something back that is bigger than a key ring. Excellent. - Lori C3 contributionsWay better than souvenir shops!! Great selection - local artists!Spend your money here! Support local artists instead of the awful souvenir stores. Interesting and fun pieces! Great folks running the place. They also suggested going to their other store which is more of a market in an old church. Both are much better than the typical souvenir stores! Go you won’t be sorry.Visited March 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten March 24, 2023

- Peter GrahamAlstonville, Australia240 contributionsAn exquisite placeThis shop shows and sells the best of artistic design. I was simply captivated and I'm a bloke who hates shopping with a passion. There are many quirky things that catches your imagination, like a whole exhibit of necklaces made out of bike inner rubber tubing that were just stunning and clever. A shop with a difference.Thank you for visiting!Written October 23, 2016This response is the subjective opinion of the management representative and not of Tripadvisor LLC.Visited October 2016Traveled as a coupleWritten October 21, 2016

Well worth a visit if you’re looking for quality Scottish art. Blown away by the work on show. Huge range of original paintings, prints, jewellery, etc. Unbelievable that all the money goes to the artists.

Popped in yesterday after finishing hanging pics at our exhibition upstairs... Had never been before but simply blown away by the range of goods, more importantly the range OF TALENT which is available in the exchange. All profits to the artists, another amazing gesture in today's world of money worshipping!! Artists rent their space then keep any money from sales. Hurry up exchange , get more of these throughout Scotland, this is such a superb venture. I am going to single out Rhona Morrison Art as my own particular favourite artist from my visit. Can't wait to come back. Hope that's allowed 😁
