Apparently this cathedral was built on the site of where once stood a medieval castle on rock, hence steps leading up to the entrance.
It was designed by the renowned Victorian architect Sir George Gilbert Scott in the decorative Gothic Revival style, with a lofty 200 foot spire & 8 bells.
The foundation stone was laid in 1853, and it was completed 2 years later.
Dedicated to St. Paul the apostle, it’s a Scottish Episcopal Church.

This church is spectacular. Its old, has a nice steeple and has amazing stained glass windows apparently. I really do regret not going inside.

An absolute gem of a cathedral. Small but perfectly formed! A lovely range of stained glass and interesting history, helped by the presence of a friendly, knowledgable a s helpful verger.

Passed by here today, intending to go in, but a large sign was on the steps. Cathedral is closed for the moment having lighting upgraded. Photo posted with details. Looks like as amazing building.

lovely stained glass windows and a beautifull interior, a gentleman working inside was most helpfull with directions and knowledge of admiral duncan and where he had lived in the house next door. Its lovely just to rest and appreciate its sense of peace.

Tucked within the City Centre, St Paul's Cathedral is beautifully rich in architectual history perfect for those interested in visiting such buildings on their trip! The interior matches the exterior and is peaceful for those needing time away from the hussle and bussle of the city streets; the majority of time visitors are welcome and its comepletely free of cost! Personally, if you love history, architecture or photography, this is a must!

This is a pretty good cathedral. It’s not very big but I like it a lot. I love the bell tower too. Worth a stop.

Is there accessible entrance to the cathedral

I am led to believe that there is a small part of the original castle in the grounds of the church. Is this actually true?
