- Claire P137 contributionsLarger site than I expectedOur son has just started his 3rd year at Dundee Uni and this was our first visit - I was suprised at how large the site was. Would definitely come back again to see it in another season. Really enjoyable day out.Visited September 2023Traveled with familyWritten November 12, 2023
- carol w2 contributionsLovely siteLovely site in Dundee. Worth a visit. Lovely area to visit. Lots of interesting colours along with great viees and a nice cafe. Only a small donation required rather than a charge which is even better.Visited February 2024Traveled with friendsWritten February 15, 2024
- cw232015Hampshire, United Kingdom97 contributionsA beautiful oasisA beautiful oasis, visited on a beautiful sunny day , a short bus journey from central Dundee. A really well cared for garden, with plenty of paved and unpaved paths to explore in amongst the plants and variety of trees. The Australian section was particularly beautiful as was the evolution garden just inside the main entrance. A peaceful and calm couple of hours spent wandering around, the grounds are wheelchair accessible and plenty of well placed benches around the site to enjoy the view out to the River Tay.Visited July 2024Traveled soloWritten July 28, 2024

We were in the restaurant 15 minutes before we were asked for an order food came quick but the drinks took another 15 minutes to arrive coffee was cool tea very strong. When we went to pay the bill we were ignored for a while and I then asked can I pay this bill. Vicki was very sullen and did not inquire if everything was OK I was annoyed with her attitude as were other diners around who could not believe we were waiting as long won't be back and will not recommend.

Visited for a couple of hours and enjoyed the glorious autumn colours. Well laid out gardens with beautiful trees, interesting features and plantings. The hothouses are worth a visit too. We were lucky enough to see a red squirrel too! We also enjoyed homemade soup and sandwiches at the cafe

Visited the cafe on Saturday 15th October 2022. There were five other people in the cafe. We ordered and pointed out that the floor as you entered the cafe had litter comprising of paper tissues etc which was being trampled into the carpet. Nothing was done about it. On paying the bill we pointed out that nothing had been done about the litter and were told “we are too busy serving
It will be cleaned when we close”
Given that the cafe was far from busy we did not think this was the correct attitude and would certainly not consider returning or recommending.

The Botanic Gardens are absolutely wonderful, even in late winter. The Scottish Native plants area especially is just magic - so clever to have packed so much into a small area.
The cafe, sadly, is not so great. The staff was almost hostile and all but told me they were too busy to serve me, (even though there were tables available) so I went elsewhere.

Oh what sad neglected gardens these are. I arrived late in the afternoon and was let in for free. Thank goodness for that as I felt very sad at seeing such a neglected garden and it definitely would not have been worth £5.

Always such a nice place to visit. We have family and friends not so far away so when visiting always usually go for a stroll around here. Always very peaceful and calm as well as lots of wildlife and many different colours to see.The cafe is very good to.We usually always get one of the many homemadecakes on offer.Would say one of the nicest places to visit within the Dundee.

Visiting here is recommended for a really nice day out. The glasshouses are superb, nearly as good as being in the jungle. The walk around the grounds is delightful and there are many varieties of plants and trees to see. Nice cafe, good food and reasonable prices. Forget about visiting the V&A, which is one huge empty space with overpriced cafe, and enjoy visiting here instead.

We had spent two days at the Best Western Invercarse Hotel which is just a short walk from the Botanic Garden. Prior to returning home we visited the Garden and spent an enjoyable hour or so there. There were not many flower beds to see but the great variety of shrubs and trees more than made up for this. We completed our tour of the grounds in the greenhouses which are well worth seeing.

Yes - on-site parking for around 60 cars, at a guesstimate

no. it's not. i actually thought it was a bit pricey. Can't remember exactly how much but I think about £4.50. It does close rather early though as does the cafe so timing is critical. We enjoyed it though

Hi, could you tell me how much the entrance fee is please.
Written August 21, 2016
It is free to get into the Cafe and £3.90 (as people have already said) to go into the gardens. Both worth a visit!

I am sure guide dogs are let in; perhaps you have a hearing assist dog? I'm sure if you could alert them of your visit, they would be accommodating. The cafe is small in width but long...and the servers have to be able to assist the clients,so they might think companion dogs might encumber them...maybe email them? Hope this helps
