Visited with my disabled client and found it easily accessible with a wheelchair (if you don't count the cobbled entrance) a lift was available to the other 2 floors staff were very pleasant and cheery. The museum itself was an eye opener to the world of Jute and the its numerous uses , this was an actual Jute mill with... More

This is one of Dundee's old jute works converted to a large museum. Plenty of space in what used to be a Victorian factory, this now houses some recreated machinery plus the history of the rise and fall of the industry with a selection of photos, stacks of jute, lots of video sections and a giant steam (beam) engine. It... More

very good to see the machines working and to realise that Dundee depended heavily on this industry.Baxter and Balgay Park in Dundee was land gifted by 2 Jute Barons. Very like the actual inside of a jute mill but without the dust..

The staff are all knowledgable. A great insight into the world of the jute mill and how the people worked there

This is the most fantastic museum. Bradford can equal it but not many other places. There is so much to see. I took the MD of an eminent British company to see it, and our only regret was that we did not have more time to indulge ourselves. Staff quite excellent.

This attraction was part of the ticket deal into Discovery Point. Given the first class Discovery experience this was a bonus. The verdant works are quite a hike away from the Discovery but well worth the walk. The buildings had been in some sort of continuous use in the same state from the turn of the 19th century, so were... More

A bit out of the way, but in an authentic setting, the Jute museum is fascinating. I knew nothing about the jute connection with Dundee and did indeed learn a lot. The layout is excellent, telling the story as you go round. We were fortunate to have a volunteer demonstrate the machines (and give an impression of the noise). Highly... More

Used to be in the jute industry so vouch that this is a good idea of what is was like in the jute mills in years gone by. Interesting displays with a working mill using old equipment recovered from local training centre. We got a personal demonstration of all the working machines in the processing of jute. Guide was very... More

Wanted somewhere different to go and saw the leaflet to the Jute Museum - knew nothing about Jute or its history / connections with Dundee (we do now) - So we went. To find it SATNAV is very useful DD15BT - it has a CarPark just past it in a side road on the right. Friendly and inviting Cafe Give... More

I decided to visit this museum after it was recommended to me by family who have visited before. I am pleased I did as it worth it and good value for money. The young guy who served me at reception was very helpful and gave me a map pointing out where to go. As I was on my own I... More
