We spent a marvellous January day at the works, having a break for a snack lunch in the middle. What a marvellous introduction: we were met by the 'Works Manager', dressed in period dress, who took us from the works entrance, into the works office, outlining the clocking on, weighing of the jute procedures, and how the office was run.... This is yet another great piece of learning for children (but not too young). It lets them learn about what people in this city done in the olden days and what their working conditions was like. It also shows them how they made the Jute.

Took my mate Euan here to learn more about the incredible jute industry and to say Euan had a great day is an understatement. From start to finish everyone made him feel really welcome despite the length of his head. It's a great day for anyone who's friend like Euan is very tight with money as it is inexpensive. Euan... Thank you for taking the time to review your recent visit with your mate Euan. I am so happy to see that you had an incredible time and that Euan had, at the very least, a great day! I hope that Euan satisfied his hipster needs by buying a jute bag from our gift shop and we all hope to... More

Visited with my husband and our 2 nieces aged 7 and 16. We could see that the machinery had modern safety warning signs on them so assumed these must be used for demonstrations however we did not see any staff members in the mill and we did not see the machines in action. We thought the mill was very interesting... More

Thank you for taking the time to review your recent visit to Verdant Works. I am happy to read that you had an interesting time and that your children also found their favourite area. The working machinery, as well as the recently restored 1801 Boulton and Watt steam engine, are operated by our volunteers and as such we cannot always... More

On a quiet day you get an individual demonstration of all the process machines in action. Has a very interesting social history display upstaris which you should spend time vidsiting.

Visited today with a few friends and had a fantastic experience. A wonderful building full of even more wonderful stories and machinery with passionate and knowledgeable staff and volunteers to guide you on your way. Everything was so tactile and interactive, we loved it. A special mention to Bill who guided us through all the machinery, he was fantastic and... More

Our party of four knew virtually nothing about jute, although we knew that Dundee had long been associated with the three J’s - Jute, Jam and Journalism. We had heard good reports of the Verdant Mill exhibition, so made our way up the hill to visit. It is an enormous building, a disused mill with lots of space, and massive... More
