We visited earlier this year and walked the purple route so decided to do the yellow route but we also combined it with the end of the purple route.
Parking costs £3 for the full day or cheaper if staying less. One toilet block.
We set off on the yellow route and absolutely loved it, the views were stunning felt like we were on top of the world.
Neither of us are particularly fit but we managed it with no problems, plenty of benches along the route
Love the fact you just follow the coloured markers.
Next time we'll do the slightly longer brown walk followed by lunch at the mabie house hotel

We visited this place to experience a walk in the forest
Parked in car park on site and followed the yellow route for walking , maps were available on site and there are markers around the walk guiding you in the right direction. The walk itself is relatively easy, with some steep inclines but good ground underneath. The views are spectacular at the viewing points! We visited the mabie house hotel after for a drink once we had finished.

We did the longest trail which was a very varied walk. We got absolutely drenched in a downpour about 1/3 of the way round and didn't see anyone for most of the remainder of our walk. It's a nice place to visit for a walk.

The 7 Stanes website advertises that they hire bikes, their literature advertises that they hire out bikes. But after we had driven especially to hire bikes for a family day out and to enjoy the Mabie mountain bike trail, we found that the BIKE HIRE HASN'T BEEN OPEN FOR 2 YEARS. Paid £3 parking for the privilege to find that out.

Great wee dog walk, little streams all over the place and plenty of room for the dog to run free. Good walk also in the summer when the ponds are open, full of frogs and bugs for the wee ones investigating the wildlife.

After travelling over from Northern Ireland hoping to hire some decent bikes for the weekend, I was utter disappointed in the 'Bike Shed'. Rolled up on Sat to check things out, few bikes to hire and they were all lined up caked with mud. Sunday morning went to hire bikes and told to come back at 11am as no one there to hire them out! A while later was handed this 'thing' and thought better just get on with it. 40 mins later, chain locking and slipping, realised bent teeth, time to take this death trap back. Dude wasn't interested. Said bike was dirty coz out day before! Seriously!! Not impressed. This place has much potential if only they take more interest in their bikes and customers. I still don't understand how all their bikes for hire inside we're all disgracefully stinking with mud and dirt.....I think I will be back to Mabie, but deffo will bring own bike.

This place is a gem. The teenagers loved the bike trails and we walked the dog!The trails are clearly marked and they suit all levels of fitness. Beautiful place and reasonable parking cost. £2 for 3 hours. Fantastic views when it is not raining!

Visited 3 of the 7 stanes when in Dumfries (others being Dalbeatie and Forest of Ae) and out of the 3 this one offers the most tame red route. Not very exciting but it's a nice enough place - good to go to build your confidence but would recommend one of the others if you wants a more challenging ride.

Recently took a walk at the Mabie Forest with our daughter and her grandparents. It was perfect us. We wanted something challenging enough to keep us happy, but easy enough so a toddler could hike. It was the perfect place to satisfy everyone's abilities. There were small bridges, water streams, hills and plenty of trees to keep us interested in the route. There are small pits and tables in case you'd like to grill. There is also a play park for kids.

Lovely spot away from the crowds. good news from the top and nice rides in the woods or runs. You won't meet many others here which is nice. Small farm shop at the bottom open in the summer and bike hire venue
