Back in time, interesting and informative
Aug 2021 • Couples
We booked on a guided tour and what a little gem it was, the tour guide was amazing he took us back in time to when Robert Burns lived at the farm and spoke of his and Jeans life there and also his work as an excise man. This also provided an insight to what Robert Burns was like from helping his brother out to his love of women

Very well worth a visit, very informative and shows original farming implements Burns used working on his farm, this visit has raised an interest in Robert Burns and his works and we hope to learn more. Very friendly staff small tour groups, plenty of hand sanitizer and covid safe. We will definitely be back to visit soon highly recommend.

great family day out
Aug 2019
I brought the grandchildren here for a wee visit. Staff were very welcoming and we thoroughly enjoyed our time.

It's the sort of place you can only really visit once but I will certainly be suggesting it to people

Making history alive
Jul 2018 • Friends
Set by the river, Robert Burns farm, Ellisland, is a collection of buildings, fields, artefact displays, and not a “typical” museum.

It makes the Bard’s life here come alive, and is educational, attractive, and “real”, providing a fascinating glimpse into the poet’s family and working life.

Friendly and helpful staff too.

Well worth a visit!

Walking in Burns footsteps
Sep 2017
Visited this farm last year with family. We felt as if we were walking in Burns footsteps, along the banks of the river. We could imagine him ploughing the fields while reciting some of his poetry. Well worth a visit if you are a Burns fan.

A total revalation, set on the river banks and so interesting.

I have no idea why this is not better known and visited.
To me it sums Burns life story up better than any "museum" or book.
The sun shone and the staff were so welcoming.
Buildings, artifacts, river bank, just a great insight into Burns family and creative life.
I will return.

A very knowledgeable curator enhances a visit to the farm where Burns wrote 'Tam o' Shanter'. You really feel the presence of Burns here. Well worth a visit!

Very interesting morning spent here

We visited this former home of Robert Burns, finding it very interesting and informative. The curator was very knowledgeable and welcoming. Not only is about Burns and the and where he wrote some of his best works it also was a small farming museum with many farming artefacts and interesting things for children. There was a school party when we were there and children were dressed up, making butter, and milking a mock cow.
