Well worth trudging up the hill, or driving. Great views over Oban to the magnificent Isle of Mull. Nice gardens within the tower. Take a picnic.

It's a good climb upto the Tower, not for the faint of heart. But worth it just to say "I been there" and some wonderful views over the surrounding town and Lochs, plus if your lucky you'll find the shortcut down.

Built in 1900, McCaig's Tower or Folly is an impressive piece of architecture which has been the town's icon since. Oban is blessed enough with its location, but this appears as a crown dominating the town and harbour below. It is worth the effort of...More

An interesting monument, not a lot to see, however the views on a clear day are spectacular. A nice walk up to the top inside the monument.

It is worth the walk for the views out across Oban to the islands and the tranquility. It could do with some kind of information board to tell you the history of it, however information can easily be found on the internet.

I've seen pictures of McCaig's Folly many times but always from the outside looking up at it. Getting there and taking a walk inside was a pleasant surprise. I expected a run-down weed-infested old monument but the reality is a well-tended area with stunning views...More

I visited Oban on several occasions and it never ceases to amaze me. The tower at night is wonderful with its coloured lights and laser show. The views from the tower are unparalleled. If your in Oban its a must.

Not sure what to say really. No signage telling you about McCaigs tower. Luckily we had been to the war and peace museum and had read about it there. Nice views from the top but that's it. I love history but you're just stood staring...More

Had some spare time and took a stroll up to see it. Beautiful views of the bay and Oban. Learnt about the history of the structure from the war and peace museum which is also worth a visit!

A great walk up to the tower up a steep walk with a number of steps. Had a little breather half way but once at the top the view is beautiful and well worth the effort. Weather was mixed so one minute the view was...More

It's at the top of a hill and think we probably took the steepest route. You can drive up there as well.
