First went to Ganavan when it was just a beach with holiday lodges and caravans, however, over the years the holiday accommodation has been replaced by a housing complex but it is still worth a visit. Great expanse of sand with easy access. Good car parking facilities and a little place to get teas, coffees, ice creams, etc.

Nice beach on the outskirts of Oban. Good parking, toilets and bins. Good clear water. Well worth the trip.

Parking right next to the beach, gorgeous beach, kiosk selling food, drinks and beach items, therefore very happy kids. Who could ask for more?!

We had a lovely walk on Ganavan Sands after a long journey in our campervan. The dog loved the fact that she was allowed on the beach too - finding a dog friendly beach can often be quite a pain. The sun was shining and the sea was a lovely blue colour - we could have been by the med.... More

What was once a lovely beach and rural campsite has been totally spoiled by the incredulous stupidity of Oban Council's planning department who permitted recent development completely out of scale. It would seem that someone in the council has ambitions to recreate the Costa Blanca. I was shocked to see the change. Affordable housing may be an excuse but offers... More

This a lovely stretch of clean beach. We visited on a miserable rainy day which spoiled the views but we went exploring over the rocky part and found loads of rock pools and beautiful stones and shells. Plenty of parking (£1 for 4 hour stay), large stretches of sand for kids to play on and plenty of nooks and crannies... More

This beach lies to the north of town and is probably visited more by local people than tourists. However, a walk further north along the cliff tops is a terrific way to spend a few hours

A short drive, (or long-ish walk!) from Oban is Ganavan Sands, a decent stretch of sand, with amazing views to the islands off the coast. The amenities included public bathrooms/change rooms which where clean and stocked, plenty of car parking, and when we were there a small hut/trailer selling beach toys, kites, chocolate bars and tea/coffee along with some seating....
