Impossible not to notice it, since with its 38 meters it stands out on the skyline of the village of Inveraray, composed of buildings of much more modest height; moreover its pinkish color of the exposed stone blocks with which it was built contrasts with the white houses of Inveraray. Built from 1921 to 1931, it has a massive structure, neo-Gothic single and mullioned windows and battlements on the terrace. Its construction by the Duke of Argyll, as well as the bell tower of the adjacent church (to which it was to be attached but instead remained detached) was to commemorate the fallen of Clan Campbell in the Great War. Its greatest peculiarity is the bell group of 10 bells, of which the largest has a diameter of 5 feet and a weight greater than 2 tons. From its top you obviously have a beautiful panoramic view of the surroundings but considering that it was a rainy and above all foggy day we gave up the internal visit (which costs 7 pounds), since, removed the panorama, it would have been limited to the bell chamber and little else. Visits are however only possible in the summer (from mid-June until August), from Monday to Friday.

The 10th Duke of Argyll, Niall Diarmid Campbell, built this tower as a memorial to the members of the Campbell Clan who died in the war. The construction was begun in 1921 and completed ten years later in 1931. Ten bells, each named after a Celtic saint, can regularly be heard chiming. 176 steps lead to the top from where there is a splendid view of Loch Fyne and the surrounding countryside. Worth a visit when you are in Inveraray.

A lovely view from the top. Go when it’s quiet to avoid having to pass people in the stairwell. Keep a steady pace on the way up! A great monument and hopefully visitor money will allow for the rest of the work to be done.

Next to the historical All Saints Episcopal Church, this tower offers stunning views if you climb the 176 steps to the top.

Built after WWI to honor the Clan Campbell dead from the war. Construction on the 126 foot high bell tower began in 1921 and was completed ten years later. Ten bells were added.

You have to be somewhat nimble to climb the 176 steps to the top but this tower offers stunning views and well worth the effort. But please remember the 176 steps down!

We were walking around town and saw this - clearly the tallest building in "downtown" Inveraray. We looked at the church next door and then went in here.

You can look around the first floor for free. If you want to climb the 176 steps to the top, that costs a little. There was a very friendly man on the first floor who answered a few questions.

We were surprised to see a Menorah given to the town by Israeli president Chaim Weitzman. There were other interesting items displayed on the first floor. Definitely worth a visit.

A massive tower. It’s a very beautiful building, which is worth the visit if you find yourself in Inveraray, however i wouldn’t travel to visit it. It was closed so i couldn’t go in it but it was lovely from the outside.
