Email communication before the actual day was informative and we knew before hand what equipment we would need to bring and be supplied with. Mike and Janey met us at the Glenshee hotel and explained what was planned for the day over a coffee. We then were issued with the necessary equipment and headed to Glenshee. We walked up a... More

I had been looking forward to this Winter Skills Day at Glenshee for a while and was not disappointed even though the weather was not kind to us. Mike and Janey met us with a friendly smile and made you feel relaxed straight away. Although there was not much snow Mike managed to find a couple of patches for us... More

Went on the Winter Skills day, learnt how to use crampons and an ice axe. Was a great day out, absolutely right balance between learning new skills and enjoying the amazing views and weather we had. Mike was a great instructor.

I joined glen trek for the ice climbing and to have a fun day and was not disappointed. I was a little concerned that I would not be able to manage the ice, but the tour leaders were great, and really new what they were doing, the equipment was good quality and easy to use too. We did have great... More

Fantastic experience! All instructors were lovely and helped everyone along the way. Techniques learned and had a lot of fun on the mountain. Luckily the weather held up nicely too! Have already signed up for the advanced course in March, can't wait!

I was really surprised at how many things we learned. Climbing the munro was about as hard as it got in terms of exertion. After that we stopped at the summit for some lunch and beautiful scenery. We then made our way down to another summit where we learned the skills and had a right good laugh. Mike and Paul... More

The initial communication via email failed very slightly the day itself was excellent. We all learned some very valuable techniques for walking the hills in the winter time from how to use an Ice Pick to Avalanche awareness. Both Mike and Paul we knowledgeable and great at explaining everything as well as instilling confidence. The day we did this trek... More

Absolutely great! Mike and Janey taught us valuable mountain skills in a relaxed and friendly way. Got using the crampons, had a wee ceilidh dance up the mountain and challenged myself with the ice axe arrest! Can't wait to go back through and see then for another fun day out!

A group of 11 of us (20- to 30-somethings) went on this trip after getting a deal on Itison for a winter walking skills experience. We all enjoy hillwalking and took advantage of this to come together over winter, get outdoors and learn something new in the process. We stayed in Gulabin Lodge (which was a great place to stay... Met up at Spittal of Glenshee hotel to get our equipment for the day, boots, ice axe, helmet and crampons and headed up to the ski centre car park to head off on our walk. Different winter skills were introduced the higher up the hills we got, using our boots to gain grip on snow, using our ice axe to... More
