About
Carnoustie Golf Links is an iconic, world-leading golf destination in Scotland and home to ‘Golf’s Greatest Test’. Golf has been played at the Links since the 16th century and it was Carnoustie natives who went on to establish the Professional Golfer’s Associations of America and Australia. We look forward to warmly welcoming you to play our fantastic three 18-hole courses, the Championship Course, the Burnside Course and the Buddon Links Course. The Championship Course played host to The 147th Open last year, with Francesco Molinari becoming the 2018 Champion Golfer of the Year.

Burnside
Aug 2021
So much better than I expected . I played the burnside course which is next to the championship course. It was a real test and very enjoyable although being slightly short the fairways and greens were excellent and many thanks to Chris who explained the course and some of the history . He was very helpful.

AUSCHWITZ IN CARNOUSTIE.
Jul 2021
Arrived on 5-7-21 for 5 days expecting the hotel to look like the wonderful photos on its website. The female receptionist was dealing with another 2 clients in front of us.Her manner was appalling, issuing commands to them like they were idiots and her general demeanour was that of a concentration camp guard!
We asked about daily linen change and when the meal times were. Meals to be pre booked and linen only by request. The superior room was dowdy and looked nothing like the brochure. Very basic, no soap or shampoo etc. Had a look round the room and exited to reception& checked out within 10 minutes of entering. Asked for a full refund there and then.We were looking forward to the gym , spa and pool but all were closed (COVID) restrictions. On a scale of 0-10 its a 2, as I,ve never came across a 1....

Championship Course visit
May 2021 • Solo
The Championship Course is now way too expensive at £270 per round, and although excellent is not worth that cost. Don’t book as a Single Player as they put you out behind a 4-ball without any thought!! Yellow Tees way forward so you don’t get a proper reflection of playing a Championship Links. Also don’t bother giving them any Feedback as you won’t get any response!!! Once they have got your money, they ain’t interested any more!!

Had to cancel trip because of COVID but NO refunds given
Jun 2020
We had a Scotland golf trip planned for June 2020 and needless to say we were disappointed when we were unable to travel because of COVID. We were fortunate to get full refunds from all the golf courses we had booked tee times at with the exception of Carnoustie who continues to make excuses why they don't give refunds. Do they know the world was in a pandemic! I don't think they cared. They only care about how much money they can make. Everybody suffered during this pandemic. All the other courses and even the airlines, hotels, car rental companies changed their refund policy but not Carnoustie, they only care about the money they can make.
I can't tell you how disappointed I was not being able to make this once in a lifetime trip but what Carnoustie did made it 10 times worse. I get to go someday but I guarantee you wouldn't waste my time going here.

Note to the Board of Directors at Carnoustie: You better evaluate your policies, the world is in a pandemic, not just your golf course!

Great course
Aug 2020 • Friends
Great golf course to play. Definitely one of the hardest and trickiest courses to play. But don’t be scared of it you can actually get a shot from the rough so it isn’t as brutal as you think. The ground staff have to be thanked for it being in great condition Definitely a test but worth the visit.

Lovely golf course, but we just enjoyed a lovely walk
Feb 2020 • Couples
We went for a good walk while visiting the Carnoustie Golf Hotel and Spa. The links are right next to the sea, so the air is lovely and fresh. There are many paths across and around the course for non-golfers, and for the golfers amongst you, I believe that The Open has been held here in the past.

Carnoustie links Team
Jan 2020
Yesterday I spent a great hour with Trevor Williamson discussing golf clubs, bags and balls from the turn of the century to modern times. His breadth of knowledge was impressive and his "occasional" anecdote very entertaining.
He was of great help with some very specific questions on hickory and the very earliest steel shafted clubs covering 1910 ... 1940's. Trevor explained many manufacturing methods from the earliest cleats, shaft preparation and grip types. He even demonstrated the whipping techinque used on the early leather grips.
Sitting in the Rookery overlooking the famous links listening to Trevor was a great experience, thanks Donald for the introduction.

An insight into the history and traditions of golf at Carnoustie
Dec 2019 • Friends
I visited the Rookery with a friend who was getting an old golf club repaired by Trevor Williamson, who met us at the reception. Trevor is the grandson of Robert Simpson. He showed us the famous claret jug that was on display, then gave us a tour of the history of golf at Carnoustie.

It was fascinating to hear about how golf was played back in the late 1800's and how holf clubs were made by his grandfather just around the corner from where we were sitting.

Trevor brought the whole story to life with stories and anecdotes about today's golfers and those from the distant past. I could have listened to him for hours.

The service in the Rookery was friendly and efficient. Even if you dont get to meet Trevor, every golfer should visit Carnoustie as it oozes history but is very much in the present with its interactive golfing simulators.

A Must Play.
May 2019
We played Carnoustie about 10 years ago and struggled so much that we have it a miss the next time we visited St Andrews on our golfing trip. It was, quite simply, beyond our capabilities, especially in the wind!

We decided to give it another go but played off the forward tees - what a difference! Everyone had a great time. This reinforces the point that when you visit these great courses it should be all about enjoyment - after all you're paying a lot of money for the privilege. Unless you are a low handcapper, then move forward and make it "easier" on yourself!

The enjoyment of playing Carnoustie does not lie in breathtaking views but rather the experience of playing a very strong course design and having every facet of your game tested at the highest level - - even from the forward tees!
