Lovely Bridge

The Wellington Suspension Bridge, is a lovely place to take a walk, and look at the views, up and down the River. Well worth a visit.

Out walking with my dog this morning. A nice bridge over the River Dee. A great view from this and peaceful too.

Good view of the don
Aug 2018 • Solo
I frequently cross this bridge while out running, it gives a good view over the river don and avoids walking / running by busy roads.

The best way to cross the River Dee (on foot)
Mar 2018 • Solo
This bridge was reserved for foot and cycle traffic some years ago and is much more interesting to walk across than the road bridge close by. It also takes you that bit further away from the noise of traffic and lets you pause to look at the river underneath. If you are heading into town from Wellington Road it's easy to find, but when you cross over to the north side of the river it's maybe not quite so obvious the best way to go to reach the town centre. I tend to go up Wellington Brae and then choose to head for South College Street or to go through Ferryhill.

A walking bridge
Oct 2017
A nice way to watch people rowing in the River Dee. Coming down from Torry towards town. It is a wide bridge but watch out for cyclists who at times do not let you know they are there.

Great Old Wellington Suspension Bridge from 1830 - Also Known in Earlier Times as the Chain Bridge
Jan 2017 • Solo
Wellington Suspension Bridge is one of the landmarks that everyone passes coming from Aberdeen heading up to Tullos and never really appreciates. It was built in 1830 to replace a FERRY to cross the River Dee.
It was designed by Captain Samuel Brown and the then City Architect John Smith. It was refurbished in 2008 and can now be used as a Pedestrian Bridge.

Great piece of history, a must for stopping by and just admiring it
Apr 2016 • Solo
A great piece of engineering history.

Built in back in 1830, it's an amazing piece of history and engineering.

Very limited information at the site, so best look it up first.

But great to visit.
