About
'THE ABINGDON COLLECTION' is open by appointment only and offers a unique visitor experience in the beautiful rolling hills of Co. Tyrone. Divided into two distinct sections the first area covers classic cars, motorcycles, diecast models and enamel signs and every 'BIG BOY'S TOY' imaginable. Take a step back in time to the 1950's and remember when petrol was sold in gallons and you could still afford to buy it. The second part of the collection takes you back to the dark day's of World War Two and represents one of the largest private collections of militaria in the UK. Admission is free but contributions to Cancer Research are gratefully accepted. If you want a totally different day out with a history lesson included contact us now. Classic car and motorcycle clubs are very welcome and catering can be organised for visiting large groups. Admission is by appointment only but every effort will be made to facilitate any visiting individual or group. Fifty six years collecting in 2024.

    A Must See!
Philip’s Abingdon Collection is incomparable. He discusses his pieces with an incredible depth of knowledge and a deep respect for the past. We brought our 7- and 10-year old boys, whom were kept quite engaged by Philip and the vast amount of visual history. A must see, tucked away in a pristine setting of magical rooms.
Thanks so much for your kind comments and generous contribution to Cancer Research UK. I hope that you enjoyed your trip back to Ireland and that we might see you back at the collection soon. Thanks, Philip.

    Highlight of our trip
Words cannot even express how much my family enjoyed this collection. Cars and WW2....my sons' favorites. My younger son was thrilled with the cars (he's saving his money to buy that Porsche). My older son is an avid collector of WW2 relics and was enthralled not only with the collection, but with the stories and attention to detail that Phillip shared. This was one of the highlights of our trip to Ireland.
Thank you so much for your kind words and generous contribution to Cancer Research UK. It is so refreshing to meet younger people who have an interest in cars and militaria. They are the collectors of the future and need to be encouraged at every opportunity. I hope that you enjoyed the rest of your visit to Ireland and hope to see you back at the Collection soon. Thanks, Philip.

An extraordinary walk in the past!
We found the Abingdon Collection by chance when we were preparing for our holiday in Northern Ireland. Our visit turned out to be one of the highlights of our trip! Admission is by appointment only, so this means you get a guided tour exclusively for your group! There is no admission fee, but make sure to bring some cash for a donation to Cancer Research UK. Our son was enthusiastic about the classic cars and the possibility to sit (and pose for photos) in some of them - he especially liked the BMW & the Manta! I thought I know a thing or two about WWII, but this is next to nothing compared to Philips knowledge. The collection is very extensive and has some unique items. But what really makes it so special is Philip´s passion about history and it´s human side.
Thank you so much for your very kind words and generous contribution to Cancer Research UK. It was very rewarding to talk to your family group especially about WW2 and the effect it had on so many families. I hope to see you back at the Collection soon. Thanks, Philip.

    Well worth a visit
Knowledgeable host whose personal input makes the visit come to life though stories and insight to the varied exhibits. The things to see bring so many memories flooding back. The WW2 section is an education that should be given to all, least we forget. Thanks for the experience.

Amazing. A really enjoyable tour. The collection is superb, everything in excellent condition and a trip down memory lane. The curator and owner gives a great tour, the WW1 and WW2 memorabilia is especially interesting. Book in advance.
Thanks so much for the kind comments. I hope that you enjoy the rest of your visit and can make it back to the collection next time that you are over. Thanks for the photos. Philip.

Amazing collection, a must visit for anyone interested in history - you will learn so much
Cannot recommend a visit to Abingdon Collection enough. Philip is a gentleman who really knows his stuff and explains everything so well. Massive, unique collection of cars, toys, badges, war memorabilia, etc. No charge in but all donations go to Cancer Research Charity. Plenty of photo opportunities. Fantastic way to spend an afternoon
Thank you so much for your kind words and your very generous contribution to Cancer Research UK. It was great to see all the generations visiting the Collection and I guess that is what makes good memories. Please pass on my thanks to your visitors from the South. I hope to see you all back at the Collection soon. Thanks, Philip.

    Unexpected, eclectic and very interesting.
My wife and I live in Cookstown, and when we wanted somewhere different to bring my niece and her partner, who live in Australia, we discovered The Abingdon Collection online. We had not heard of it before, but it did sound interesting! We were very pleasantly surprised by the volume, variety, condition and rarity of many of the items. Equally surprising, was the knowledge and passion for the items in the collection, that Philip shared with us as he conducted us around. A lot of thought has gone into how best to display items in the collection, and the way they are logically split into groups, or sometimes separate rooms, greatly assists the visitors’ viewing experience. There is plenty for the serious and scholarly visitor, but also many household, every day and frivolous displays - in short, something for everyone. Finally, donations go to a good cause, cancer research, so for all of these reasons I can thoroughly recommend The Abingdon Collection.
Thank you so much for your kind words and very generous donation to Cancer Research UK. It was great talking to you and your Australian visitors and I hope that they got something out of the visit. I hope that the rest of the day went well and that I will see you back at the Collection soon. Thanks, Philip.

Working and staying in the area with a free weekend and struggling to find something that interested me until I came across this place on Google. Visited with a work colleague and we were not disappointed. Probably the most interesting place to visit in the area, especially if you are into classic cars, a wide range of quality memorabilia and a superb military collection from WW1 and 2. Philip not only collects the best and rare items, he gives an excellent guided tour and even writes books. If you are in the area its well worth a visit.

My boyfriend and me loved visiting this brilliant and fantastic collection. Phillip was so lovely and funny when he was telling us all about his collection that he has collected for the past 50 years. We both said we could listen to Phillip talk about his collection for hours especially the war collection which is very impressive. We came out with more information about the war that no one would even know because he goes above and beyond to gather more information to make the experience more educational and fun. There is no admission cost but they do take donations for Cancer Research so its another great reason to visit. So if your around Omagh and are looking for something to do, I would highly recommend visiting because you won't regret it.

We visited the Abingdon Collection last week and suffice to say that we found the journey from Galway well worth while. The curator, Philip, gave us a wonderful tour and he is extremely knowledgeable. Every room we went into held a real treasure trove of items collected by Philip over the last 53 years. However, the final room housing the Military Museum left us absolutely stunned. It is absolutely fantastic and we can not recommend it strongly enough.. Thank you, Philip, we will be back.

A church group of 12 men visited the museum last evening. We were given a very warm welcome and a detailed tour of the extensive war memorabilia. Philip’s knowledge is unbelievable. The collection of concurs vehicles and motorcycles is stunning. The tour lasted around two and a half hours and we were treated to coffee and biscuits which was much appreciated and enjoyed by all. Overall, a fantastic evening and would highly recommend a visit to the Abingdon Collection.
Thanks so much

Thanks David for your kind words and the very generous contribution to Cancer Research UK. The group were a pleasure to have as visitors and were very well informed. Sorry about the antics of Bailey the Beagle. It did him a lot of good last night in meeting a large group but he has a lot to learn. Please pass on my thanks to the group and I hope to see you back at the collection soon. Thanks, Philip.

Definitely worth the visit! Phil took us round the collection and we enjoyed our time. It was good to see items and cars from my own childhood, and also from my parents. The collection brought back many memories. A shout out to Phil’s wife Hazel for providing coffee and cake too. The entire time was first class and I highly recommend viewing the collection.

An exceptional visit to the best museum in Northern Ireland. A fantastic resource which is a must for anyone with an interest in history, both social and military. Philip the curator has an unrivalled knowledge of the collection and is most welcoming. The admission cost is a donation to Cancer Research, so another great reason to visit.

An excellent place to visit especially for anybody with an interest in military & military memorabilia. It also has a fine collection of rare & interesting non-military vehicles & other memorabilia on display. All exhibits are well-presented & the curator is a fund of knowledge on all of the exhibits.
