About
Peadar O'Donnels, the home of Live traditional & contemporary music in Derry. On our premises we have 3 different bars – Peadar O’Donnells, the Gweedore Bar and Fifty Seven Waterloo St. Peadars is known throughout the world and is a must visit location for the many tourists that flock to Derry in ever increasing numbers. We are famous for, among other things, our live music which is largely organised but has regular impromptu sessions from either local musicians or visiting performers. Whichever of our bars you would like to visit, you are guaranteed a warm welcome, a good time and the best pint of Guinness in Derry!

Lovely Atmosphere
Sep 2020 • Friends
In here had a lovely atmosphere, lovely staff members and great decoration to the bar. I love the way it was decorated with history and sports memorabilia.
The drinks where a bit over priced, well I order a Jagerbomb and had to pay 3.60 just for the red bull without the Jäger itself. Other drinks were less expensive but over average.
Other than the price of the drinks I would recommend coming here as it’s a lovely place to sit in and enjoy.

Nice cosy pub
Sep 2020 • Couples
Visited the pub on a Sunday afternoon for a few drinks. It is a nice cosy pub and the staff were friendly. Seemed a tad bit more expensive than another pub we had been in for drinks.

Really Derry in 2020???
Feb 2020 • Solo
I was meeting work colleagues later in the evening and so popped into the bar to escape the rain and have a nice Guinness!

When ordered a “resident” made an extremely rude and quite frankly poor comment that the bar man , other residents and myself were shocked by!

I was asked am I “a squaddie” and all that implies - in Derry/Londonderry in 2020 !!!

Naturally the barman intervened but realty is in 2020 should any bar be nhabited by repulsive people such as the person actually exist?

Let’s be clear it was a rainy Saturday afternoon at 330-4pm not a dark day in the 1970’s or early 80”s when parts of cities were no go areas for selected communities!

Would I recommend - in a word “maybe” if you fancy being judged by xenophobic and quite frankly outdated and bigoted people be my guest !

I left went next door and had a lovely few hours in company of lovley people from this city and not once felt threatened challenged or queried on my appearance !!

L/Derry is a lovely city with many friends who live there and they were Apalled by my experience as was the bar man (I say this again)

But again if this is Derry in 2020 you can keep it!! Well this bar anyway if this person is in residence!!!

The bartender made our visit
Jan 2020 • Friends
A group of my friends and myself wher in this little bar today 19th of January after a night out we thought we would go for the cure, just one for the road home, but little did we know we would still be there 3hours into the day, we first landed in and there was a barman behind the bar and was nothing but polite, we felt sorry for the young fella as he said he was up watching the McGregor fight and that’s how it all started, we started to slag each other the 7 of us and was giving it straight back, Cormac (the bar man) lifted everyone’s spirits he even managed to sell to souvenir t-shirts and there Derry pins to us, he is an Huge asset to this bar. This is why I would highly recommend going to visit this bar, from the words of Cormac himself “somethings cannot be taught” and he was true he’s a true old style bar man to who you can sit and just have a few pints and laughs with. So thank you to Cormac for everything you did for us and lifting 7 Hungover people. Top Class

Lazy Sunday afternoon
Aug 2019
Shuffled in on a rainy late Sunday afternoon and found a lively filled pub with a warm and welcoming atmosphere. A wide spread of generations enjoined their drinks and sang along and listened to live Irish folk music, classics as well as new arrangements.
