A must for all walkers
Aug 2019
Have been using these woods for years. Amazing walks and an especially good place to walk your dog. Peaceful and tranquil with the bridges and new paths. The waterfall is beautiful and a must for all country lovers.

We visited Ervey Woods which is part of Ness Country Park .
Very well looked after , a very pleasant place to walk and take in the spectacular surroundings .
Lots of different paths , you could spend a long time here .

woods closed due to flood damage
Oct 2018 • Family
You can still drive in and park , there was no notice at the information point to say the woods was closed, so I set off with my too very excited kids to go for forrest walk.
However as you walk on down the path right where you would enter the woods, it is closed off no entry. It was very dissapointing, if the sign had have been at the enterance we would'nt have been so annoyed and would have just went on home.
hopefully it will be open again soon.

Great spot to go for a walk

Love going here on a nice evening for a good walk. It can be accessed from three different parking areas. Two have quite steep paths leading down to the river, while the other has a road which you can drive your car down to the parking area at river level. This has a small visitor center with toilets provided here.

Enjoyable walk

Heard about Ness Country Park from Trip Advisor and had to pay a visit as I travel with dogs and much enjoyed. We parked in the main carpark as there was facilities there to use. Unfortunately from Ness Country Park you couldn't get to Ness Woods but at a later date found where the Waterfall walk was but due to adverse weather (called Storn Ali) didn't do it.
Much enjoyed as done the Elvery Woods walk.

First time visit with my partner and our dog for a walk. About 15 minutes into our walk with our dog ( bichon ) on a lead we were attacked by 3 large dogs, a boxer a Labrador and a cross bred dog accompanied by a woman with no leads and no control over her dogs. All 3 dogs pinned our dog to the ground and started to maul him. My partner froze in fear as I reached in and pulled our dog to safety and even then 1 of the dogs tried attacking me. The woman tried to apologise but the damage had been done. We moved on to a safe spot and had to sit for some time before my partner felt well enough to return to the car and travel home. Will never return to this location as it is not safe.

Great trails that we accessed from the upper parking lot .the trail on the right side heading downstream was closed at the second bridge crossing. .we didn't walk the entire trail system ..the upper section was not intense hiking but there were some stairs..water was fairly low so the falls were beautiful but would probably be more impressive with higher flowing water...great place foe a family excursion not more than a half hour south from Derry

Brought residents from a care home and was really impressed by their wheelchair access picnic table and toilet facilities. The views were beautiful with a lot of plants and insects. Facilities were well marked and clean.

Dog walking
Mar 2017 • Couples
Myself and my husband have been walking this park for years as has my father and we all used to LOVE it right up until people stopped lifting up after their dogs and throwing litter at their backsides. You now have to watch where you step otherwise you are guaranteed that you will step in dog poop. Which is so very sad as these woods and trails where somewhere I grew up coming to for walks and picnics and everyone loved it as it was clean and tidy. Now don't get me wrong as I know it's not their fault but the people who are trusted with the upkeep of the woods spend more time sitting indoors or running out for take away than they do about keeping the woods clean and tidy. We walk in many different woods and country parks and you actually see the caretakers out cleaning the paths cutting back fallen trees and yes even clearing up other lazy peoples dog droppings keeping there parks and woods clean and beautiful places to walk and spend the day in. So come on the Ness Woods pull up your socks and bring this place back to the gorgeous woodland that it always used to be.
