Went here on a Saturday afternoon/evening. Drink spot on, a bit of live session music going on but pub is tiny and you have not much chance of getting a seat. Can't comment on the food as we didn't have any. Will probably give it a go again, but would be nice to have a seat next time.

I order a real ale last night and it tastes like soapy bathwater. I take it back and the wannabe hipster barman tells me it is my fault for ordering it. I then checked policy with apparent duty manager and yes - the customer is always wrong - my fault for not liking it. This is now a pub best... More

A visit to Belfast or the Cathedral Quarter would not be complete without a stop at the John Hewitt pub. Opened at the end of the last millennium – the John Hewitt is owned and run by the Belfast Unemployed Resource Centre. A great place to meet and chat with local people; learn about Irish culture and listen to live... More

Popped in for a quick lunch after flying into Belfast City Airport. A quick look of the menu then checked the specials board; bingo, "crispy fried fillets of herrings, champ, lemon butter sauce". Superb... now did I have room for a pud? Of course, spiced apple pie... also superb. Washed down with a Yardsman Pale Ale.

Friendly courteous service. Great ambiance. Delicious food and creative menu with local food. It would however had been a bonus if he lunch menu had some lighter fare, maybe a sandwich or a salad. Otherwise a great pub lunch experience!

Good old fashioned pub with local beers and warm friendly atmosphere. Decorated with paintings by local artists. Live music.

This was third on a very enjoyable, long, but not stupid pub crawl with a great friend who was introducing me to Belfast. Great ambience, beer (lovely Guinness and Sauvignon Blanc - not in the same glass!) and wonderful live music. Will definitely come back. Just great.

Friendly, helpful, courteous waiting staff. Food nicely served. Delicious, and as a vegetarian so nice to get a different meal choice from the usual standard pizza, pasta, risotto, goat cheese offerings. I had butter bean rissoles with garlic fries and salad. Very good value for money also, as I feel veggie people are often ripped off in restaurants where they... More

Really enjoyed a sunday night here. Music was good, easy to get a seat and staff were friendly and helpful. A lot less hassle than some of the bars in the area which were packed to the doors.

Food is unreal with a huge selection of beers. Staff friendly and real nice demographic mix of patrons. Jazz notes are awesome. Best pub in Belfast by far.
