Good area for a baby
Sep 2019 • Family
We were up in Belfast for a few days and came across this play area.

It had a lovely area for babies to play in which was great with soft shapes to climb on. Some of the stuff could do with updating as it was torn/worn.

The big ball area was also great for the older kids to mess around in.

Nice afternoon to spend with a coffee.

Great kid exhaustion zone
Dec 2017 • Family
Took the grandchildren along here today. The facility is quite large, and has many zones for all ages. Many kids in, but with the variety and size of the place, it fills the bill.

Good for a wee break

My kids love it here. I think it's good value for money. They play and I get the chance to have a coffee and a rest. A good place to go on a wet afternoon.

Good value now we get 1.5 hours.

Children happy so I'm very happy. One hour and a half is a reasonable length of play for my 4 year old. My second visit today and I would say better value. Snacks are very good value too.

5th Birthday party
The BFM and girls were invited to a friends sons 5th birthday at the Abbeycentre branch. It was actually very enjoyable. The kids played in the soft play area and climbing areas. They were pretty tired after their activities.

Then there was musical chairs and statues before more play. Then the food came out, crisps, sandwiches, fruit sticks-great idea, sausages and fried chicken. For drinks there was juice. After the food the cake was cut and we had the services of Mickey Mouse. The adults got tea/coffee and a mixture of scones, butter, cream and jam.

The staff were superb and its well worth spending the money so it's something less for the party parents to worry about.

So if u want a party venue check out Funky Monkeys.

Once again the BFM shares the food love!!! Ciao down now!!!

A good soft play for younger children
I like Funky Monkeys at the Kennedy Centre. It's for under 8s, so my 6 nearly 7 year old girl is probably at the top end for it but she still enjoys playing with her younger sister at it.
It's great for younger kids, my just turned 2 is very safe on all the equipment, and it's easy to keep any eye on them all as the tables are very close to the play area.
I think their range of food is great, among the best for these kind of places and the manager/staff are always really friendly when you're there.

We've held two birthday parties over the years and I have to say I disagree with the previous reviewer. I think it's fab that they will collect and mind presents for you, I wouldn't let my child open them at the play place or there'd be no playing done. Also the fact they hand out the party bags to everyone on the way out saves me doing it. They also reserve a table for the adults to sit at.

Although other play places have better facilities for older children this a great opportunity for younger kids to play in a safe environment.

Downsides - on my most recent visit I thought the play tiles on the "downstairs" bit of the frame where the ride in cars, play kitchen and little house etc are, were looking pretty old and grotty. The rest of the actual frame seems perfectly clean.
And it has been a bit rough on a couple of occasions but staff deal well with issues, aiming to identify parents and give warnings etc as required.

All in all, an easy few hours out (especially toddler mornings with the free activity during term time).

Average soft play
Funky Monkeys is an ok soft play if you have children 5 or younger. It does explain before you go in that it is for children under 8.

To be honest there is little to keep a 5 year old entertained as it's not very big, however there are plenty of seats, free wifi and the usual food menu.

A big plus point is they offer an activity programme between 11-11.30am which includes a breakfast club, musical movement, cookery morning and arts and crafts on a rotating basis.

It also offers a membership scheme. On the whole it's ok, but I'm unlikely to return
