This is the best couple of hours we’ve spent on any guided trip anywhere. Mark was very knowledgable, having lived in the area during the troubles. He was thoroughly engaging at all times and pitched the tour at exactly the right level for my husband and I (in our late 40s who remember those days) and for our children aged 13 and 11 who are new to the history of the the troubles. A fascinating insight into the real life stories of the people and communities involved. Mark took us to the various murals on both sides of the peace wall and was so friendly and engaging we were 100% happy and would thoroughly recommend this trip . Thank you Mark for a fascinating tour .. Jon and Lisa, and children from

Our guide Joe was excellent. He arrived on time and made sure to find out how much we knew about Irish history in general and the Troubles in particular. He was knowledgeable, informative and passionate about the history, and illuminated the sights and stories with personal reminiscences and anecdotes. Lots of time at the various stops and murals for discussion and questions.

He did his best to give a balanced overview of the impact of the Troubles on the two communities, and how things have evolved after the Good Friday agreement, and the situation now with Brexit, and recent elections. We did spend more time in Catholic/Nationalist West Belfast than the Protestant Shankill, but that was clear from the itinerary, and didn't detract from what we learned. It was eye-opening to see a still-functioning "peace wall" in a U.K. city in the 21st century.

Highly recommended.

We arrived in Belfast on early flight from Edinburgh on Monday 3rd August, our airbnb host Barry arranged for his Uncle Joe to collect us from the City Centre and provide a tour experience of the murals while our apartment was being readied.
Our knowledge of the troubles was limited and Joe took this on board as he provided us with a great history lesson filling in the detail with his extensive knowledge and persona experience. Joe was very entertaining and I would highly recommend the tour for anyone visiting Belfast, my daughter preferred this tour to the Titanic exhibition!

I am holidaying back home and a friend came over to visit so we did a few tours whilst she was here.

Having grown up through the "Troubles" before emigrating, I found it great to be able to travel through parts of Belfast that I would not otherwise have been able to do whilst living here.

Paul (our driver) was a great guide and gave a very fair and balanced tour of both the Falls and Shankill with many interesting anecdotes along the way.

My friend (an Aussie) loved the tour as well and we both recommend using Taxi Trax if this is on your itinerary.

This company went above and beyond. I had underestimated how long my tour in the morning would be so I was unable to get to my pick up at City Hall by 2.30pm so instead they sent the driver to pick me up from Crumlin Road gaol at 3.15pm and then the driver (whose name I never got sadly) was excellent in covering the history and discussing the issues. A sensitive and potentially divisive discussion was well handled and I saw so much and learnt so much! A must for anyone visiting this city

I had only a couple of hours left in my visit to Belfast and I was stood up by the free guided walking tour (in Spanish) because they did not have the minimal numbers. gutted! so I head to the visitors centre and they suggested me to call a Black Taxi Tour, which they arranged for me... within an hour and after a bit forwards and backward Pat, our driver arrived to meet us and take us on a tour to west Belfast and immerse us in the Story of the troubles. Pat pace himself while talking and tame his very Irish accent for us to understand all the information he could relate to us and God only knows how's much he actually knew about it, he was a child when it all started and live through the whole 30 years of conflicts. He then drove us around West Belfast. This part of the city was the setting for most of the fighting that shaped the story of contemporary Northern Ireland: I could not have imagined how vivid Pat will make this history lecture. As anyone will guess, Pat comes from a catholic-unionist background and even though his bias was palpable, the facts remain and the scars and pain of the troubles are still there to be felt.
This is a tour for those who want to understand 'The Troubles' as it is known the war that for just over 30 years costed the lives of more than 3600 people. Many innocent lives from both sides of a wall that still stands 10m plus high and more than 20k long.
Belfast want us to remember not just what the lived through, but how fragile peace is and how many other conflicts around the world still exist.
Needles to say, it was the most informative, touching and heartbreaking tour and a fitting end for a visit to Belfast.
Not for the faint hearted, but for the conscious and history buff.

The tour was excellent. Our driver’s name was Tommy and he has lived in Belfast his entire life and both described what the murals depicted and how locals feel about the events. I was surprised to learn that the walls are still up and the gates still close every night. Tommy stopped at his favorite memorial garden, although there are many throughout the city. That is what makes this such a unique experience. The driver isn’t just reading a script. He lives here and loves his city.

Our driver Joe did a fantastic job of telling us what living in Belfast is like now and during the tuebulant times it has faced in recent history. Joe shared personal stories which truly provided insight which is beyond the pages of a guide book. He drove us to many places in West Belfast and got out the taxi to see the landmarks and murals up close. This is a must when in Belfast.

The highlight of our visit to Belfast was most definitely the Murals tour. Our taxi driver and guide, Joe, provide a fascinating tour of both Falls Road and Shankhill Road areas. He was very patient, answering our many questions and ensured we understood both sides. His personal experiences added to the facts, always giving a balanced view. Highly recommend to anyone with a few hours to spare to take this tour and experience the history of Belfast.

Joe S met us at our hotel and chatted with us in order to understand how he could personalise the tour to best suit. He was a font of information, having lived through the entirety of "The Troubles", and the tour tool in a variety of murals as well as the "Peace Wall". It was a real eye opener to see both sides of the wall and hear Joe's first hand accounts of what it was like to live in Belfast, the events leading up to the peace process, the changes to the city since and the amount of work that the communities still face. Thank you Joe, fantastic tour, highly recommended, we loved it!
