An unforgettable tour of the murals with a great guide

We booked a private 2 hour tour of the murals and the “Peace Wall” with an amazing guide, Geordie O’Neill, who grew up in the vicinity and whose home was burned out during the worst of the troubles, He tells the history and explains the current situation between Protestants and Catholics in an unforgettable and extremely well-informed manner, with a fine Irish sense of humor as well as deep personal connection to the events he discusses. His van is a spotless new Mercedes that could seat up to six, maybe seven, but it’s spacious and very comfortable for two. And his prices are very reasonable. We enjoyed his company so much that we booked a drive with him to the Giants’ Causeway, another informative and seamless experience. We recommend him without hesitation. Find him at the N.I. Black Taxi, Belfast. Ask for him.

We did the 1.5 hour private mural tour. We had an absolutely amazing tour with our guide Billy. We were very grateful to be collected from the front door of our hotel and he was very punctual picking us up. He provided us with a wealth of knowledge throughout the whole tour. He was very accomodating during the tour, allowing us to choose whether we wanted to sit in or out of the taxi. His first hand accounts of his time growing up in Belfast provided some very special touches that left us feeling as though we were in very good hands. He provided a depth of information without overloading us and we left feeling mesmerised. He also went above and beyond by providing us with printed photos to look at whilst he spoke to us about the events that took place. We couldn’t fault him at all and we are only sad we didn’t decide to do the longer tour as 1.5 hours only scratched the surface. Thank you so much Billy!

You must take this tour if you visit Belfast

We had an amazing experience with our guide, Billy, as he drove us around Belfast teaching us about the Troubles and its impact on life in Belfast. He really brought it to life with his knowledge, passion and we were enthralled the entire time. We had requested an impartial guide (neither Protestant or Catholic) but Billy was strongly Catholic. We appreciated his honesty and professionalism and we learned more than we ever expected to. Thank you for a wonderful and inspiring experience.

Friendly, informative, fantastic

Our guide for the tour was Billy, and from the moment we jumped into his cab until we left him at the end of the tour we were in rapt attention. Billy explained all the stories and history in great detail (so much detail that we ran nearly 30 mins over!) and really made it come alive. We came away from the tour with a huge amount of new knowledge and a better understanding of the history of the Troubles. Would highly recommend this tour to everyone!

Liam was a wonderful tour guide. He spent our time with personal anecdotes and weaving Irish and American history as we spoke of the districts. We drank deeply of his well of knowledge. Thank you, Liam.

This tour was an excellent way to learn more about Belfast's history. Our guide Tommy was friendly, engaging, sensitive, and incredibly knowledgeable. We especially liked that the tour was private so that we had time to ask questions. A must-do in Belfast!

On a day trip from Belfast we went to Londonderry

Our van was driven by the company owner Barry McCann , a nicer most hospital person you will ever find. Very knowledgeable on Ireland with quite interesting with folklore. The van held 7 but it was only my wife and me, so we had a lot of space. Barry found a great restaurant on main street in Derry as we walked around in this quite small quaint town. Would recommend this tour company definitely a 5 Star treatment.6-8 hour tour

Joe was our guide, he has grown up around Belfast and seen first-hand the impact of The Troubles. Joe has a tremendous knowledge and delivers this in an unscripted conversation. Joe's optimism for the future was clear, and he spoke as much about the future as he did the past.

I would absolutely recommend anyone visiting Belfast gets and afternoon out with Joe.

Mo’s brilliant Mural Tour

My whole trip to Belfast was based on this tour and it did not let me down. My wife was not so keen on doing this tour but she loved it. Our expert Mo was very knowledgeable, friendly and made the time on this tour fly by. He took us to the murals on both sides of the ‘troubles’ he explained what they were all about and answered any questions that I had. The tour wasn’t just murals we also saw very close up the peace wall, an I.R.A memorial garden and visited Sinn Fein head office with bobby sands mural on the end.
I cannot recommend this tour enough and Mo as the tour guide was superb.
