Just lovely

My son and I had the absolute pleasure of being shown around the palm house and the ravine with a fantastic tour guide named Aidan. The amount of information and history this man was able to rhyme off was fascinating.

My 8 yr olds review - The fish is the best but and the banana plants.

Would definitely recommend this to everyone especially those with an interest in botany and Belfast history.

Amazing place and very kind volunteer guide

This place was just amazing, full of rare tropical plants from all around the world. Also the guy who works there was very kind and helpful, giving us plenty of information about any plant in there and also about the building itself and it's process of renovation. I totally recommend the tropical lavine for everyone.

Superb tour

Went on a tour of the Palm House and Tropical Ravine with friends and their children (aged 7 -10) fascinating history, learnt loads. Wonderful engagement with the children by our guides Aidan and Lewis. Beautiful buildings. Could’ve stayed longer. Well worth the trip.

Nice plants but ...

As the tropical ravine had recently reopened I thought I should go and see what it was all about. I can't have been in there more than about 10 minutes. The plants are definitely interesting and it was free to go in but not sure of the attraction beyond this. The lower level where you can get down to the level of the plants wasn't open when I was there. It has to be pre booked which isn't great for those of us whose visit was not pre planned.

If you have not been to rain forest then experience it here. Lots of information given on the plants you are looking at and some are in flower.

It was a pleasant walk through this area and the heat and humidity was welcome on a cold day in May.

Gloriously refurbished
Apr 2019 • Couples
The crumbling decrepit near ruin that my siblings and I ran around in our childhood has been beautifully restored and while modern day health and safety requirements may have produced a cleaner safer 'sanitised' building this is all for the good. Try to get an official tour from one of the superbly well-informed guides who will point out the many gems and important pieces of conservation work they are engaged in and make your visit a real highlight. Super!
