A 5 minute walk from central Belfast (markets / clock tower etc) so worthwhile a quick visit to take a few photos
This is a huge statue on the waterfront, a close walk from the city centre. We drove past on the Hop-On Hop-Off Red Bus Tour on the way to Titanic Belfast, but it is worth a closer look at the fish to see the intricate tiles and the stories they tell of Belfast. There are also a couple of colourful Game Of Thrones artworks nearby, which are definitely worth a look and few photos too.

    Worth the walk!
We were exploring downtown Belfast and had read about the "big fish," so we decided to walk over and check it out. It was a short walk from the downtown core. Fun art! It's fun to evaluate how it changes as you go from seeing it at a distance to noticing it up-close. The tile work (patterns and messages on individual tiles) was pretty neat. Free and worth the walk. Here's to cool public art.

    Catch of the Day!
The Big Fish is certainly a tremendous catch. I wonder who landed it ;) It's an impressive sculpture and I love all the detail that there is in some of the "scales". It's certainly something to check out on your visit to the waterfront in Belfast. It's located close to Lagan Weir on the opposite side of the river to the Titanic Quarter. It's not far from the city centre.

It's a nice clean safe area of Belfast, The views of the river are good. The Big Fish is a good photo opportunity. Very close to the Hilton Hotel and some very good restaurants, and the Market. Recommended .

It's a big fish. I have no idea why it's so popular. But, it's a must do. Everyone was kissing the fish . I am not sure why? Doesn't look very sanitary to kiss it? But everyone likes it. LOL

I couldn't quite believe just how good the Big Fish was, it's absolutely marvellous. A true piece of Belfast folklore. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise, the fish is a true Irish hero. You will spend hours admiring its decadent scales and fishy features, wondering if some day it will dive into the Lagan and swim away. Cities such as Paris, Berlin, London, Scunthorpe and Dubai can only look in envy at the pride of Belfast, the Big Fish.

If you know the legend of the Salmon of Knowledge, or if if you'd like to learn this old Irish story, this is worth a look, though you won't need a ton of time. Best if you're walking to the Titanic Museum, or are out and about on the river.

This is an eye catching sculpture at the waterfront. If you are walking at the waterfront, you will easily find it during the stroll. The mosaic tiles have Belfast's history. Makes for a quick photo stop. Just 10 mins from city center, and thats about it.

A beautiful achievement, you have to get to the area and admire it. Many groups of tourists are skipping it and you can expect it if you want a picture with him.

It is funny to have a picture by it. If you look close you can see that the fish is actually made of pieces of tiles with pictures/drawings related to the city, like pieces of the Belfast Daily or old maps of the city. Quite funny to visit.
