About Experience Belfast
Quite simply, we provide the best overview of Belfast you will find. We cover the 'Troubles' in detail but do so in human terms using local guides to provide a personal but factually accurate and unbiased narrative. In a small group, you’ll wander through Entries, see the sights and see what’s hidden in plain sight. You’ll also be introduced to our greatest asset - the warmth and humour of the people. The tour is about the Troubles but it’s also about the future. Expect to be entertained, engaged and informed.

A highly recommended tour from an articulate and engaging raconteur with an infectious fascination about his native city that challenges as it enthralls. Arthur’s thoughtful, wry, sometimes provocative commentary eschews ‘easy’ conclusion by adopting a rigorous, almost ‘punk’ defiance toward orthodoxies artistic, political or religious. Within a densely packed two hours Arthur weaves, at first, seemingly disparate events, peoples and themes into an intense, richly hued and, ultimately, optimistic tapestry of his Belfast. A suitably succinct, idiosyncratic and deliciously intriguing preamble to exploration of this small, complex, enthralling city.

I rarely write reviews but feel compelled to about this walking tour. Arthur was great. He has excellent insight into the tortured history of the last 50 years and the ability to communicate this in an informative and interesting way. He’s also a very funny guy who relates well to everyone from babies to grandparents. Highly recommended!

Thank you very much. I work hard at remaining a kid myself so relating to them is never an issue.

One day before this tour, I did another tour learning about "the troubles". It took me by surprise that Steve's tour is much more than just the troubles. He brings a much longer historical lens, allowing me to see how the land we stand on is formed and progressed. Therefore, I got a deeper understanding of the accumulated injustice that the catholic people faced before the troubles. What is also special is that he untangled the nuances of that dark time, showing me the positive changes that each party was trying to make. The talks around Titanic is another highlight. I got to know the true reason why the ship was doomed to sink. I also appreciate the thick picture book that Steve took with him. With that, I'm able to see what was there back then compared to what I'm seeing now. Steve is also very observant and considerate. Because of all the information around dates and years, my mind is busy converting them from English into Arabic numbers. Steve noticed that and started to use numbers referring to the years which is way easier for me to catch up. I'm fortunate to be the only guest of today because of COVID, so I'm able to ask a lot of follow-up questions. So for guests coming to Belfast when all the museums are closed, I would say you won't miss anything if you get the change to tour with Steve. For future guests who are lucky when the city is back to normal, you will miss a big part of the experience knowing the city if you don't book your time with Steve.
