Cultural Tours

The mythical west Wales tour.

On this tour you are accompanied by a historian with a deep passion and knowledge of Wales. You will learn some Welsh, sample traditional Welsh food and learn about the ancient history and culture of Wales. Gareth, your guide is a fluent Welsh speaker and he will give you an insight into Wales that wouldn't be available with a standard tour operator.
The area we will visit is dotted with quaint old towns and picturesque villages which seem untouched by time. The South West is the home of Pembrokeshire coast national park, and is an area renowned for the beauty of its beaches and coastline. For the lovers of castles there many to discover with Carreg Cennen, Pembroke and Kidwelly being three of the most impressive.
An example of a tour could be a visit to the wonderfully preserved Norman Castle at Pembroke, then lunch in the beautiful medieval port of Tenby followed by a stop off in Laugharne, the former home of the poet Dylan Thomas.

My favourite part of the woods is the river and the two lakes, the variety of wildlife, buzzards, kingfishers, goldcrests, dipper's The list is endless.i walked penllergar wood's back in the 70s it was really wild back then,it's just my opinion but it's a bit to manicured now.But it's still a wonderful place with a lot of history.I would recommend this place to anyone.for people that are disabled it could be a challenge.

Just off the M4 motorway, really worth a visit. Nice walk, a few different paths you can take. We done the riverside walk, will visit again to do the others.

An incredible and beautiful place to wonder and discover - from impressive oak trees to woodland paths to the infamous waterfall. Parking costs are extremely reasonable (particularly as they feed back directly into the business), as was the cafe - a welcome stop at the end of a long walk. We had young children and granpa (over 90 y/o), and whilst it is woodland paths, they're well-maintained and we all managed the stroll. Maybe the next development for the woodland is to introduce some signposts or upgrade their maps - the one online didn't match the one onsite, and both weren't paritcularly easy to follow. We identified some great attractions from the map we wanted to find, but lots of pathways weren't marked and it was hard to tell how far from one to the next. All that being said, we would definitely return again and were we local residents, it would be a familiar haunt.

We live very close and walk it frequently. At all times of the year there is some new to discover. Good footwear advised as you will walk further than you think. Great for Photos especially the famous waterfall.

Easy to forget the distance when surrounded by the peace and tranquility of this location. If you have small kids it's deffo "Gruffalo" contry ! A good place to walk a dog (we didn't have one !). The small waterfall is worthy of a photo or two. The cafe at the end is well worth it for a cool drink and (surprisingly) reasonably priced. Would recommend decent footwear only to give your tootsies some comfort !! Definitely would return. Well done to all who work and manage Penllergare Valley Woods.
